Looks like more Gears of War, not a bad thing at all~

I wonder if they're gonna do even more with the co-op this time around, do something crazy like 4 player co-op or wutevr

Also, looks like they've made the chainsawing of Locust more precise, so now the top torso of a guy actually tears apart. In the first game it just seemed like they gibbed to pieces in messy way, no good at all :G

I gotta admit that I do miss the RPG elements and property purchasing, but on the other hand then it does make it seem somewhat more realistic in that Niko ain't trying to take over the city, its more down to earth. That doesn't change the fact that you do reach a point where money start getting kinda pointless.

Anyway, on my second way through now, reached the first missions of Playboy/Elizabeta. Really impressed how different some of the chases missions have turned out a lot different than the first time I played through. Really just a matter of shooting the guys at another time, but its amazing how much that can change things

Also played some more MP, had some epic fun with the co-op campaigns. Hangmans NOOSE and Bomb da base II are definitely the best, some really good possibilities for covering each other and coordinating things. Cops and Crooks is also brilliant when you're voice communicating. Had a game with some of the lads from work where I rode shotgun in a car as the VIP with 2 other guys in the car. The guy that drove the car hadn't set a waypoint and things were too hectic for him to place one on the map, so me and the other guy were directing him around the city. Some of the best co-op moments I've had in a game to date was in Cops n' Crooks

Hah, nice to see some COD4 maps. Looks pretty good. I prefer the day time version, but it might just look a tiny bit too bright (Although most COD4 maps set during daytime look like that as far as i can recall )

I don't think Epic is the company either. They're doing quite the same with their unreal franchise.

Technically ID is cooking up some cool stuff. http://%7boption%7d

So yes I'am excited about it.

Well, actually what I meant to refer to was Epic being the "engine house" that made some decent games as tech demos . ID has very much lost out on that front the last couple of years

But yeah Hourences, I'm definitely hoping that they'll do something radically different with this instead of just being yet another corridor shooter. I would be pretty damn excited if they went the Dead Space route and made a more slow paced atmosphere based horror game with just some few shooter elements. I definitely think that they could pull something like that off if they had the balls to include less gunplay.

Am I really the only one that thinks its kinda tame that they're just constantly rethreading old franchises, even more so than pretty much any other developer? I mean it was cool once that you just knew that they were the Quake studio, and everything you got from them was just that, but in this day and age they feel more like an old blind dog with no teeth thats stumbling around, rather than specced out killing machine that goes for your throat . I thought they'd try and take some more chances with their games after they announced Rage, but I guess they need something safe to fall back on.

I'm just not sure that they're up with the times when it comes to making tight shooters anymore, but I'm also just basing that on Doom 3 which is quite a while ago after all, so who knows.

    Hmm

    Yeah, incredibly exciting...

It really is quite sad to see ID in their current position. Still can't believe that Epic took over the role of being that company as fast as they did.

Anyway, who knows, they might do something crazy with this and end up with something decent

I wonder what kind of effect that has to the storyline?

    Quote

Aye, same. I'm playing the game over again now, and I'm totally reversing all the choices I made first time through. First time through I killed Vlad (Obviously), this time I'm gonna walk away and let him live. Also I killed Dwayne instead of Playboy X, which I really regretted

This could have come straight from a map video by RD

It seems each game, not only GTA, my xbox confuses save files and loads an old one instead of the most recent one, so I often find myself loading it manually - anyone else having experienced/heard of such problems?

    Channelling PITRD!~

Nah, haven't had any of that.

Speaking of saving, am I the only one that actually tries to do missions during regular working hours inside the game? I'll usually try and get to a safehouse around 00:00 so I can get up at 06:00 so its bright outside. I totally love their night look as well, but when I'm doing missions I prefer to be able to clearly see whats going on .

Last game that had me thinking about time of day was Shenmue, which funny enough is the game I'm being reminded of the most while playing GTA IV, since they also tried to somewhat simulate a living city (read; street ).

I've been playing this over the weekend now and finally hit the last mission (I guess it's the last). This game is fucking amazing in every aspect. I've been enjoying every minute of it.If you have completed the game or almost done with it, answer these questions:

DO NOT READ THESE IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE GAME.

Definitely gonna play it again and do the opposite of what I did my first time through.

I still keep getting more and more amazed by this game, it is hard to believe that human beings put this thing together, it is as far as I'm concerned in the same league of awe as huge engineering constructions, things that are so impressive that it feels absurd that humans put it together. It is one of those games that has been transported to the present from the future.

San Andreas was probably my favorite game before this, and it easily pushed it aside, absurdly good through and through.

Oh and the MP is pretty epic fun as well, some absolutely crazy stuff goes on when you get into a Free Mode server with enough people. Played earlier with a bunch of people from work, lots of laughing

I'm working in the industry where we deal these games around everyday, that's why I got it early.

    wtf are you talking about?

One of the places where I ordered it sent it yesterday, so it should be arriving tomorrow. The Special Edition I ordered from Amazon still hasn't been shipped, but it should be arriving on Tuesday~

Anyway, I can wait, my small GTA IV vacation wont start until Wednesday anyway~~

Yeah, still not quite sure what to make of this. Phil Rogers seems like a good guy tho, and apparently the core studios aren't gonna be touched.

People getting fired sucks, but I gotta admit that Eidos definitely needs some structuring around. It's been a mess the last while, and I'm actually pretty confident that better times are ahead now~
