I've been so hyped the last couple of days and so scared of spoilers that I ate quick breakfast and lunch yesterday and today to avoid hearing anybody talk about the movie.
Just in case I'm gonna spoiler tag all of it.
QuoteDisplay MoreI loved the first half, really great stuff. I feared that I wouldn't dig the entire alien thing, but I actually thought it worked out quite well (Maybe except for that last scene where the crystal aliens transform into a fleshy one, that was kinda bleh tbh, but I guess they needed a Raidereqsue moment ala the opening of the Ark). The second half though....didn't really enjoy that as much. It pretty much started when Mutt jumped the shar...lianas with the monkey army. The entire pacing of the 2nd half was pretty chunky, with Oxy sucking out a lot of the energy of the movie. I just got so tired of his ramblings that I kinda ended up wanting him to die, and having Indy being all friendly towards him actually made me slightly tired of Indy.
Also, even though I loved the fact that we spent a lot more time in tombs and temples this time around, then I also felt that there was too much of Indy talking about all these ancient things that I didn't really feel were that important to the story. I like that they tried to make for a more detailed story, but it felt like there were a bit too many things that didn't benefit the story, but maybe I'm just looking at it a bit too superficially.
Anyway, the entire portion in the "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" felt kinda messy put together for me. A lot of the scenes there felt kinda oddly put together, and having the group of 5 being able to stick together through all that stretched even Indy logics. Also I didn't give a fuck about Mac, he felt very much like a character that could easily have been written out. Felt more like a character they needed in the beginning to have somebody for Indy to crack jokes to in the first 15m of the movie, rather than a character that really helped the story in a meaningful way.
Oh and the ending was pretty horrible.
But all in all I think it was a really good movie, I'm just nitpicking because I love Indy so much, and I can't help but grab onto the small annoying issues I have with it. I thought the scenes with Indy and Mutt were mostly awesome (at least in the first half). Indy fridge was totally far out and I loved it, the shot of Indy looking at the nuclear explosion was nice. The fact that they used an old Paramount logo in the start rocked, the font for the start credits.
Johnny's score kinda lacked a really memorable sound to it, but it sounded like Indy so what the heck. Also lots of references to the old themes.

Gah time wasting minefield! If I'm going into an MMORPG again its probably gonna be another Blizzard game, and only if many people I know play it on a relaxed level.
I'm so happy to be over WoW, don't wanna put more fuel on that fire anytime soon.

Raiden is scary

New trailer, looks so awesome

I gotta admit that visually I'm not really that impressed this time around. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks good, but considering how a game like MGS2 basically looked better than anything else even 4 years after its release, then this looks a bit more down to earth. It still has the look of a PS2 game, just ressed and polied up, but a lot of Japanese games have that problem in this generation I think.
Maybe I'm just spoiled by GTA IV :G

Just saw it, the first 2/3 was awesome, really great stuff. Last 1/3 it slightly lost it, but still good. Again, big RDJ luv~

Hehe yah, I saw you playing it yesterday. Haven't checked it out yet, but I haven't really been all that interested in this game since I first saw it, even tho I love the movies. Looked like it could be some dry Tom Clancy game, which absolutely scared me off :G

Haha thank you ;D
Yeah I'm really looking forward to it too, I would definitely call myself a MGS fan. Its the only franchise where I'll allow insane production values and a VERY Japanese story (Read that whichever way you want)
. I'm still eager to see just how big it is and how many location there are. Every time they've shown a new trailer theres been one new unseen location it seems. Definitely seems like the middle eastern scenario is the new tanker

The most I've pushed myself was probably around the beta of Kane & Lynch, worked from 09:00 to about 03:00 3 days in a week and since I lived so far away I also slept in there. Was definitely needed at the time, but I'm surely not doing that again, you end up doing more mistakes than good when you sit and do it that long. However, there were a couple of other guys that stayed pretty late too so it was actually kinda cozy

I've had 2 Bravias and I've loved both of them. I was researching on loads of TV's before I bought each of them, and I always came to the conclusion that Sony's were the best. They might cost a tad more in some cases, but I definitely think its worth it.
The new 2008 line up has some pretty crappy design though, so I'd wait for them to release the new ones (W4000, if they aren't out already) and then get a W3000 (The one I've got) cheaper. It generally feels like you'll always get something solid, even in the lower price ranges of Bravia's, although you gotta be careful and check the specs so you dont get one without HDMI or Component (Some of them have some wacky specs).
That said there's plenty of other good ones, Samsung is probably the best if you're not looking into spending a lot on it and you're looking for something fairly small (40" and under).
And again there's probably gonna be the morons that say that if you wait you'll be able to get it cheaper, but with that mentality you'll never buy anything
