Awesome stuff! Must say that I'm a fan. We've been playing Badwater almost each day at work after lunch for the over the last half year and that map still holds up. Possibly one of the greatest levels ever IMO.
Can't wait to see his next map~

I gotta admit that I was very underwhelmed after playing the demo yesterday.
I find it amazing that they make a FPS for a console without any aim assists at all in this day and age. Its kinda silly when its easier to get your aim on something by using the side strafe to make minor adjustments. Also the default control scheme was not doing it for me at all, having aiming on the right stick? Gah, switched it over to having aiming on L1 and firing on R1, much better. I also really felt that the demo was just a bit too short, or rather, didn't sell the game very well. I mean, the idea with a demo is that you're supposed to be left wanting more afterward, but with this demo it felt so uninspired (Yay, tutorial level!) that I questioned whether I actually wanted to play more at all.
Apart from that, then I thought it was pretty cool stuff (
). Some amazing post filter effects they got going, has a really deep look to it. Also the weapons feel and sound great, really liked the detail on the main rifle where each shot would get increasingly high pitch as your neared the last round.
Anyway, I was fairly hyped for the SP before, now I'm slightly questioning that. I still think the MP will be nice, definitely gonna get me somma that ![]()
mmmm demo today~~~
Tried the demo, was alright. I really like the gun fight portions of the game, but the "ooooooo spooky little girl, be frightened now!" segments were just completely turning me off. Its just not creepy at all, and really just made me wish the entire game was gunfights instead.
Tbh then I didn't need the great scores to be excited about it. Been amped since they first started showing proper ingame stuff. Really digging everything about it, really in the mood for something awfully gritty right about now ![]()
HAPPY BURFFDAY!!!!1 ![]()
Quote from JetsetlemmingLol, Sonic reference?
It's funny, I was talking to the Game Director on it, and I mentioned that I liked the Sonic reference as well, but he actually couldn't remember the animals popping out of the enemies. But then he maybe he just didn't wanna admit being inspired by it ![]()
Oh and me and Warby aren't working on this, until Zacker stopped working here he was on the same team as us. He did however work on it for like a year or something, lots of pre-production stuff. Slightly envious, I'd really like to try doing stuff like this ![]()
I thought the embargo was until Monday, but I guess Yahoo got some exclusive on it ![]()
Anyway, yeah, definitely something different from Io, although this is still a murder simulator, just with dudes turning into animals instead of bleeding all over the walls ![]()
Don't get me wrong, I love Outlaws, but it just doesn't do it quite good enough as a wild west game tbh. I want GTA with horses, and lots of different landscape, lots of sidequests, interesting stuff to explore. In essence what Gun tried to do, but just with good production values and a world that feels big and real. Gun felt like big rooms with cliffs, which had doors connecting them.
I'll always have a somewhat negative association to Call of Juarez, since my 2nd 360 broke down on it (DVD drive spun to bits).
I liked it though, but it always like it didn't embrace the theme quite as much as I'd like. In a lot of ways I bet you could easily change the time period and it would still feel more or less the same. In my opinion there's still not been a truly great wild west themed game, and to be honest then it feels completely grotesque that someone hasn't made a sand box styled on with great production values (Don't mention Gun, I said great production values).
Anyway, with all that said then I did enjoy Call of Juarez, and I might try this new one as well, but I'd prefer if there were no stealth missions in this one. I just want me some firefights ![]()

Magic carpet, WIN!
HAPPAY BURTHDAY D3LOAD
2K is trying to be Activision, how cute ![]()
Anyway, I've really had enough of Bioshock for a long while, played through it twice in a row, really didn't hold up that well on second playing tbh.
That said, if they make a sequel thats different enough and not just a glorified addon then I guess it could be pretty good, all depends on what they do with it and if they somehow manage to make it interesting to have more games then it might turn out to be a good idea. If its just Bioshock 1 over and over then its more pathetic milking than anything else.
Hehe yeah, I hope Giantbomb can take in some of them. It seems like they're running a pretty tight ship tho, being not more than 4-5 guys, doubt they'd hire more than one or two from 1UP/EGM :G
Yeah, very sad day ![]()
1UP Yours and the 1UP Show have been the glue in my weekly podcast cycle, in fact something I'd look forward to the entire week. Without them, especially 1UP Yours, I don't know what to do. Fridays will never be the same ![]()
Which brings me to why UGO decided to do this. I mean, what the fuck, why buy the 1UP name and not the talent that goes with it. It's nothing, absolutely NOTHING without the people that worked there. And I'm sure UGO will soon realize that when the boards become a deserted and they get fewer and fewer hits. Hopefully the guys that got fired will join some other places or start their own stuff, definitely a suck way to start the new year tho.
Fucking sad day ![]()
Is Bionic Commando still TBA? I figured it was coming out in March or something ![]()
Anyway, site design might not be terribly exciting but it gets the job done, rather that than a site thats too confusing for its own good! Plus your portfolio is pretty impressive
~~blaz~~~
Haha I totally forgot about this thread, but when I saw it I figured "Yay, another chance to say Everything on Wii!". Too bad I already mentioned that ![]()
Anyway, of recent games there's stuff like Mercenaries 2 and Force Unleashed, both are titles that I'm not even gonna play again for points. Oh and Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3, bought it at launch and I played it for about 15 minutes and I haven't put it in ever since.
Fucked up times ![]()
