Just finished the single player, its awesome! It takes quite a while before it really starts getting good though, the first 1-2 hours really aren't that good, but once you get out of the civil war part it gets really good. Also just looks absolutely amazing in some of the later levels, one of the best looking games of this generation so far IMO.

Played little bit of the MP which was pretty good, but I had a lot of trouble with bad pings and hosts shutting down the game because it wasn't going in their favor (ooh host migration, where are you? D:)

But overall its definitely one of my favorite games of this year, so far. Its too bad that it starts of slightly weak, because I think a lot of people will probably be turned off a bit by that. But in the later portions you get a semi-sandbox environment to play with and lots of really nicely varied landscapes and some really satisfying fire fights.

    So GJ seir

Well, although Romero definitely has an ego, then I think its fair to mention that the entire "About to make you his bitch" fiasco was never his idea. It was something that was, as far as I know at least, pushed on him from Eidos' marketing department, that he more or less was obligated to go with.

Not trying to defend him in any way, although I have gotten some respect for him over the last couple of years (I'm always rooting for the underdogs! ). Masters of Doom also gave a different perspective on him and what he's gone through. That said, his game designer guru license has definitely been revoked a looong time ago

Played it a bit at work, got a new hefty machine yesterday so I'm able to run it with Very High settings and still get around 60fps, its quite nice.

I really hoped their campaign would be just semi-decent, but its simply too buggy and sluggishly put together for me to play it any further. I guess it'll be okay fun to just fiddle with the editor and just make some huge battles on your own, but I kinda was hoping for a proper single player thing or possibly something more sandboxy.

Although I liked a few of his songs then I think he was pretty overrated. That said, definitely sad to see him go, especially since his legacy will probably be of him being a goofball rather than a talented artist.

Yeah, although it actually doesn't surprise me that they did this, then the choice of buyer totally surprised me.

I gotta admit that I have had kind of a slight 3DRealms/DukeForever feeling about id Software lately, although a small team then they're not really releasing that many games and its still got to cost something to keep a joint like that running. Like I said, slight 3DRealms feeling about it.

Anyway, although surprising that they'd go this way, then I can totally understand why they'd do it, its a tough industry to be an independent in. Back when Io decided to be purchased by Eidos I was pretty sad about it, but looking back it was a pretty good call. Although Eidos is hardly the most stable publisher (Eidos -> SCi -> Square Enix), then for a large company where most have families to support, then its pretty good to have some economic stability with the backing of a larger publisher.

But yeah, definitely didn't see it, its a good idea for id to join forces with someone and possibly scale up to start releasing games more often instead of once every half decade

Hadn't seen anything about this until earlier today, looks awesome! I totally loved the first IL-2, played the living shit outta it back then. This new one is for console, which is great, but hopefully it won't be too arcadey. Well, maybe, but give the choice to play it with your own settings like the old ones

Thinking about it, this is a pretty good call. Looking back then the demo was absolutely horrible. I would not have bought the game if I didn't like what I'd seen of footage before hand, the demo actually made me doubt the multiplayer, the thing was most excited about with the game (And as it turns out, in the full game it just didn't do anything for me). Plus most of what I had seen from the game was looking absolutely brilliant, but the demo level was dark in the most boring sense. In terms of good demos, take a game like Red Faction Guerilla, a game I was extremely skeptical about from what I had seen from on the net, but I gave the demo a chance and it was totally awesome, and as a result got me converted, and as a result its probably one of my favorite games of this year, so far.

I donno if its just me, but I feels like a lot of developers have forgotten that good demos still sell a lot of games, at least they do for me. Seems like most developers look at it as just a chore to do, rather than something thats essential to the game making process.

Anyway, don't wanna beat Grin while they're down, I know some of you disagreed with the demo that was released, or at least the choice of level they chose.

I donno, I hope there's more to it than just some light based gameplay. I mean it looks alright, but what initially thrilled me about Alan Wake was the investigative stuff that they hinted you'd be doing during daytime. I'm sure I'll play it once it comes out and that its gonna be good stuff, but I'm just not excited for it at all for it if I based it solely on what they showed at Microsoft's conference.

Hehe I think I'll reserve my judgement until I see something proper from it rather than just a mag scan.

I do agree that it feels kinda random to suddenly have him go to Sao Paulo, but I think it could be a cool location have him fiddle around (Hey, MW2 is in Brazil as well, its the new hotness ).
