":1n1cmox0]Californication is a great show! One of the best I've seen, really entertaining, I can't stop laughing...I already saw season 1 and 2, but I loved the first season so much that I decided to buy the DVD.
It's really hard to compare it with anything really, because I found it to be pretty original. Some people compare it to Sex and the City, but that's just plain stupidity, they only do that because most of the humour on this serie is sex related.SEASON 1 trailer

Usually find David Duchovny's acting (Or just him?
) pretty irretating but he's really good in this. -
Damn this sucks
I'd love to say that you guys should apply to Io, but it seems like we're booked pretty solid when it comes to Level Designers at the moment D:Quote from Steppenwolfyep
Care to elaborate on that? I'd hate to think that Io's parent company caused all of this D:
Best of lucks dudes, hopefully some new exciting company will spring out of this.

Yeah, this thread is definitely more geared towards "Games YOU think are underrated", but I guess that easily becomes "Your favorite game that no one likes quite as much as you"

Niiice, which one is it? I'm seriously scoping out the 13" 2.53ghz, one of my colleagues just bought one and its pretty damn sweet. At first I hated the new thing they're doing with the black chromy stuff around the screen, looked like some cheap Samsung laptop, but I've really warmed up on it, looks very slick.
Still need to figure out if it plays TF2 and Company of Heroes alright, those are the only semi-demanding PC games I play these days

-
Aye, tis really impressive stuff. I've been playing the "Special Edition" MI1 on XBLA, and although I think its great to be able to lie down with a controller behind your head and play it (I do that alot
), then I'm not really digging the new visuals, especially the design of Guybrush just looks really irretating. In most cases I would play it in with the original graphics if I could get voice acting there
. Would be awesome if they take notice from this and actually gives MI2:SE this kind of treatment, although I figure they're well into doing it in the same as the first one by now. -
Aye, Viva Pinata is great. It got kind of a bad reputation, I have no idea why, but its a pretty deep and satisfying game. Just gets pretty damn hard later on, but its all good

Sounds awesome and scary at the same time, yeah.Scott is a good director but he did some mediocre movies after his masterpiece (Alien of course
). However he knows what to do. It would be awesome if Giger gets involved in the film again by creating various paintings and such like he did in the first one.I'm slightly afraid too about the fact that Scott will probably unveil too many things about this cute creature, their strength lies in their unknown origin IMO.
Wait & see.
Well, that's the thing, if too many things are unveiled about the Alien origins its gonna demystify it and be much different in the suspense aspect, but then then again that would be something new and at least something that hasn't been explored before by Scott. Since the original movies have already let out the cat from the bag, then I figure its probably gonna be an uphill struggle to keep that same mystery about it, but that's obviously given that its gonna be the exactly same type of movie as Alien, which I certainly hope isn't the case.
Regarding Giger (GAIGUUUR, warby!), wasn't there a lot of feuds and disagreements going on during the making of the first movie between Giger and Scott? It's ages since I saw the bonus material, but I think I remember something about him being pissed that they didn't do the designs justice or something, a real artist
. But yeah, would be awesome.Quote from Warbythere has been rumors about this very thing happening for years now ... all i am saying is this calls for some "cautious optimism"also:
aliens > alien > all other movies period !
/edit actually the commercials that the other guy who was set to direct did are pretty fucking rad !
Yeah it has been going on for quite a while, and Ridley Scott apparently has EVERYTHING EVER to do the next couple of years, so unless it somehow gets fast tracked then its probably gonna be at least a couple of years into the future before it goes anywhere.
And regarding Alien vs. Aliens, then I still think its slightly pointless to compare them. Yeah they're based in the same universe, but ones a horror movie and ones an action flick, both absolutely amazing in what they do. I still prefer Alien tho, although I love all the humour, action and pacing of Aliens, then Alien just seems to hold up better today for me, maybe its also just some kind of nostalgia about it since there were years between since I saw them.

hey let's all start being passive aggressive against people that don't share the same opinion as us, maybe that'll make them change their opinions and make us look less bigoted.
I don't understand what you're trying to achieve with your comments. You've obviously seen the same movies we've seen, you don't see anything special in them? Fine, I'm sure there's plenty of cases where its the other way around. I don't think there's a major thing you need to understand to enjoy these movies, you could maybe say they're slightly overrated today, but regardless then they've influenced pretty much everything you see in Sci-fi today.

Teh fawk?!

I don't know if I should feel extreme joy or be really fucking scared that it's gonna be a huge disaster. Regardless then it just made this "reboot" much more interesting.
I did once read an interview where he shot down the idea of doing a Blade Runner sequel, saying that he'd never go back to something if he couldn't do it better. Hopefully he still lives by that, but then again his last couple of movies haven't exactly been ground breaking in their respective genres.

I don't mind the grenade tossing at level starts so much, it only works on certain maps and you can just wait a little to avoid it. The Martyrdom perk can be VERY annoying though, because it takes no skill.
I used to hate the Martyrdom perk, but the more I played COD4 the more I felt that it actually added an extra layer of depth to it. Instead of just rushing around the levels, it forces you to make sure that the guy you just shot is completely out. Same goes for the Last Stand perk, forces you to often fire a bit longer than you'd usually do, and aim a bit down
. When I finally stopped playing COD4 I rarely got killed by Martyrdom or Last Stand, only in some cases where people also had the Sonic Boom perk and kinda had that element of surprise. But I do agree that it's a pretty petty perk, especially if that's your main method of getting kills

-
Aye I just finished watching Watchmen (hur hur), you just know a movie is awesome when its 2 hours and 40 minutes and it just goes by in no time

Definitely recommendable~

Cool, I really like the look of that Rio map, reminds me of crossfire (or any of the middle eastern maps now that I think of it

Was thinking the same thing
Gotta love Warby's spelling~But yeah, I think this is very much wishful thinking, and although somebody like Valve probably could get away with it, then devs with a smaller, less loyal fanbase, would probably struggle a great deal to make something like this work.
why should it differ whether a company has a loyal fanbase or not? it could just as well be "loyal" because it's going to be released on steam. the point here is that a good idea shouldn't different between studios, fame etc. we should definitely go by that statement in this age where new great (albeit small) games are coming out at a few months interval.
Well, a loyal fanbase would be needed in my point of view because if you want to be serious about this kind of thing, you need a certain degree of security that you'll actually be able to fund your games, and obviously if noone goes for the bait, then you'll have to go back to the conventional ways of getting funding. If somebody completely unknown so far started up a really exciting project now and outlined what it would be about, you would need some kind of proof that this would actually get done, and get done in a good way. I'm thinking about how a lot of MOD's generally go, where they start off with an exciting premise, but end up dying because they can't commit and put those finishing touches on it.
Then again I suppose I'm maybe taking this entire thing a bit too literally, if you did use it as a way of getting a fully featured product out and have it add those last bit of funding you might not have, I guess it could work.
Whatever, I'm just skeptic

Just picked it up. Never went to see it in a cinema and I know nothing about the comic book, but I'm look quite forward to seeing it~
