HAH! That was brilliant The achievement is based on "Place a hogtied woman on the train tracks, and witness her death by train", but I guess they stepped it up by doing it to a nun

And holy fucking shit that game looks good, sucks that the European release date is Friday :G

Sounds interesting. Is it very linear or not?

It's completely linear. Only thing that I suppose could change your experience is whether you pick up the manuscript pages that sometimes outline what'll happen next, so that kind of relatively subtle stuff.

    how long is the game?

Quite long for today's standards. I'd say it took me 12-15 hours to get through.

Just finished it. I'll admit that I went into it with pretty low expectations, and I actually ended up thinking it's one of the best games so far this year.

Between a plot that keeps you second guessing about what the hell is actually going on, some surprisingly awesome combat and an absolutely stunning atmosphere through the entire game; day and night, it's definitely a well crafted experience that anyone with a 360 has to try. That said, then the ending did come out fairly weak to me, at least the way I understand it, but I don't really think it hurts the game that much looking back on it. It's just one of those games where you feel like you've been on an adventure afterwards, lots of amazing moments.

I was really worried that the light based combat would get old in about an hour, but the core mechanics of melee enemies and you having to break down their "darkness shields" before you can kill them actually stayed fresh through the entire game. Also there are other types of enemies that I wont spoil, but they're sure to leave you on the edge of your seat . There's some really nice touches in the way the story is being told too, you coming across pages of the story that hasn't happened yet, but once it does you realize that it's a scene from the manuscript and you wait for it to happen, plus you also get insights in what other characters are doing off screen. It just soaks itself in the entire writer theme and it worked surprisingly well.

Also, this is the first "spooky" game since the first Condemned that has given me goosebumps from just being creeped the fuck out, insanely rare that happens with these kinda games.

    So yeah, very goo!

the hud seriously needs a black outline or it wont be readable on bright backdrops as the first screenshot already prooves.

Was going to say the exact same thing I kinda like the look of the HUD, sorta tilted 3D look (I figure it moves a bit with the camera when you're looking around?), but as one of those screenshots illustrate then it probably needs a background or some kind of shadow. It's not like its the end of the world, but its annoying when the HUD works against you in some situations.

Apart from that, looks pretty good. From what I've seen so far it doesn't really feel that New York'ish tho, apart from a few signs here and there then it looks like it could be any fictional game city, but that's probably also pretty hard to judge from the little media that's come out so far.

I think it looks great the way it is. Still very curious as to how the driving turns out, looks awfully flimsy from the videos I've seen so far.

I do agree that DiCaprio has had the same "issue" that Matt Damon has somewhat struggled with, having kind of boy'ish babyface appeal even if they were way into their 30's. However I think they've both matured and lost it somewhat, or at least I don't think of a grown up boy in an adult role when I see them in movies anymore.

But regardless then he's a great actor and one that is consistently picking great roles at the moment.

Since no one else has apparently started a thread on this, I will. New Christopher Nolan flick, looks pretty damn interesting and different (and epic!).

Cheesy yes, but I actually kinda liked it. If that trailer is any indication, then they're going for a bit more personality in the character as opposed to something like MW where they're more typical tough guys. Anyway, I have an unexplainable urge to like this game, kinda get the feeling that it might have more than its face value.

Heh, I think I underestimate just how long it is since you left, feels like that feature has been in the game like forever

Anyway, Joystiq has their hand-on with FA up (Other sites should have theirs up later today), they really dig it, and they were only playing one of my maps

I found the first Thief to be the most scariest. Didn't found the other two half as scary but maybe because i was older and already used to the atmosphere/gameplay of the series.

Same here, but I think that's more a result of me just being way younger back and got scared much more easily back when it came out. But hell, even the last time I played the original Thief (Which was about 2 years ago), I got chills playing the Mines and the Cathedral, but I figure that was also a bit of nostalgia mixed in~

Even though Thief 2 came out fairly close to the first game, then I never really got scared from it, but man it was awesome. System Shock 2 is actually also surprisingly creepy to this day, fucking amazing audio in that game.

It did kind of bum me out that Dead Space was all about shocks, and rarely even tried to creep you out, and when it did it never really worked on me. Still good stuff tho, good to see that they're giving it another chance, even with the somewhat disappointing initial sales of the first one.
