I didn't even know there were Megaman games on the DS. I seriously get overwhelmed with the DS library sometimes and end up ignoring it for long stretches. There's just so much there worth picking up if I look close enough.

But, who can pass up Megman? :megaman:

Oh since my 360 should be going in for repair I decided to buy GH III for the Wii simply because (1) it has a wireless guitar but so does GHIII for 360 thus (2) my wife will actually play it on the Wii. And, since we are trying to get up our place in Tahoe for some vacation this summer it is a lot easier to pack a Wii and a guitar controller that seperates than a 360 and one that doesn't. Oh it was cheap at Costco so wtf right?

After a few false starts, I finally got into Metal Gear Solid 3. I'm about 8 hours in and have played about maybe 2 of those

At first I was really frustrated with most everything, like the first few attempts at playing it but things are getting a bit better. I like the more interior locations for some reason, much more reminiscent of the first couple games and really narrowing your focus on how to approach the area. I'm thinking the game doesn't work as well in the more open, exterior jungle areas but I don't think I've played enough of them to tell yet (I just beat 'The Fear' boss).

The cut scenes still bite at my ass but I'm getting used to the flow of it. This stuff didn't bother me as much with the other games but they seem more frequent and longer. I'd much rather have codec scenes, as they're more direct and tend be more insightful than watching whatever the hell the cut-scenes are supposed to be offering. They really have gotten progressively more retarded since MGS1 but whatever.

Also, all the movie references with the Para-Medic make my skin crawl.

Having beaten Rock Band Multiplayer with my sister last week (visiting Montreal all the same), I've now turned my attention to Assassin's Creed, just to see what many of my current colleagues were up to before I joined them. And also to see how long I'd play it before feeling the repetitiveness I keep hearing about. I actually was pleased by the entry missions and city, then things do get repetitive. I'm sure I'll still beat the game 100% though.

Got myself a PlayStation 3 last week and have been playing:

    • [*:ol680ycz]Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Enjoying the thick storyline of this, and the overall tone of the game gives me some serious vibes of

Broken Sword, a classic adventure game. It even superficially looks reminiscent of some parts of Broken Sword 3 (yes, you have to climb those cliffs in Broken Sword 3 ).

[*:ol680ycz]Heavenly Sword. Not got very far into this, but the scale of the combat has been intriguing and it looks like another winning storyline. It makes such a change to see genuinely superb voice acting and whatnot in games after so many AAA titles shipping with absolutely shit voice acting over the past generation or so.

[*:ol680ycz]Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Disappointed that there's no damage models, but for £17 I've been having a great time with this — in no small part because of the online play, which is a far cry from the offline play and has nutters running you off the road at every opportunity. It's definitely a much purer racing game than most though, so I'll need something like MotorStorm to satisfy my more destructive side.

[*:ol680ycz]Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. The in-engine cutscenes are amazing, and the gameplay is fun and varied too. There's a lot of scripting going on, but it makes the experience of stuff like the opening city incredible to due to how much is going on around you.

[*:ol680ycz]Assassin's Creed. Much better than I expected after the initial flurry of disappointment following its release. The graphics are awesome, the storyline seems pretty reasonable, the environment interaction and controls are brilliant, and I've been having fun going around doing what I've been asked to do. I imagine it'll get repetitive if it doesn't go beyond listening to conversations, picking pockets, and killing, but it's fun while it lasts.

[*:ol680ycz]Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Think this is really shit to be honest, and not my type of game at all. The graphics are clearly of a last generation and given some superficial improvements due to the excessively clean environments and whatnot, the gameplay doesn't appeal to me at all, and the general atmosphere of the game just turns me off on every level.I also liked the Burnout Revenge demo, so the full version of that will arrive later this week. Got some other stuff on my LOVEFiLM list such as MotorStorm, GRAW 2, Colin McRae: DiRT, Resistance, and Turok. Should have played all of those within a month or so.

I beat STALKER! Amazing game, 9/10. I would give it a 10/10, but unfortunately it had a lot of bugs . I ended up seeking wealth, and in fact was buried alive in my search.

So I'm done with Assassin's Creed, and it really isn't half as bad as some reviews said it was gameplay wise. I suspect it does get rough if you're just rushing through it trying to beat it in time for your review, but I really took the time to explore the cities and complete all the missions, so played it for over 25 hours. Some of the bugs were down right painfully stupid to have let slip by (and so obvious the testers have spotted them for sure) and certain design if not technical decisions like having to listen to cut scenes were also detrimental to the replay value (being able to load the game directly in the kingdom for instance would have been helpful when going for flags/templars)
