Started playing the campaign on Legendary alone yesterday. Insanely hard, I was more kinda preparing for playing some co-op Legendary later on, but its actually a lot of fun trying to do it on your own without the respawns. The AI is just so brutal and clever at flanking that you really need to keep on your toes, and while you'll be able to take a few steps back and pick guys off from a distance in some situations, then there are others where you just need to engage it like a puzzle from each checkpoint, and plan carefully how to get each enemy. Also the enemies you didn't even notice on Normal or Heroic suddenly become an actual obstacle here.

Really having an awesome time with it on Legendary, great stuff for when you've completed the game. Takes me about 3x the time it took on my first play through

Halo games are some of the few I actually go through twice - I always play through on heroic and then fight my way through legendary.

I had some mates over the other day, including one with his 360, and we got a Halo 3 system link on the go. For those still wondering, 4 player coop is the most - don't really know why it allows 16 in the lobby (I guess because 16 is the most for multiplayer, and they use the same lobby system) but 4 is definately the most that can play. But oh what fun that is

Before everyone arrived we also did a 2 player coop with a screen each, and that was arguably even better as the two of us are both pretty well versed with Halo. We played on Legendary with 3 of the unlockable difficulty modifiers on - enemies have double health, no radar, and (hardest of all!) shields only regenerate by doing melee attacks. Ooof. Hard work, but satisfying as hell. Forces you to play so differently, as we were head shotting brutes from a distance and leaving the weaker enemies alive so we could charge in and use them like a health pack

My housemate has it and it looks ok, nothing special visuals wise to a PC gamer.

The splitscreen keeping the aspect ratio is hilarious though, he was not amused when he got massive black bars down the side of his 24" Dell monitor.

I've not played H3 yet but from the reviews, I am expecting it to be as good as Deus Ex, System Shock2, Company of Heroes, Zelda OOT etc. It got the same scores so its gotta be.

    Right?

(I'm not actually being sarcastic here for a change either)

I disagree as much with his review of Halo 3 as I agreed with his Bioshock review

On Normal its any other shooter, on the harder difficulty levels you get something you cant get anywhere else. Also I think the campaign is the perfect size. Adding 1 or 2 more chapters would've made it too long I bet. Halo 1 had way too many chapters, and it ended up being way too long. Its a good 6-8 hours on Normal, thats the standard these days.

Plus the MP is part of the game. I totally understand people that get games solely for the SP, I generally do that as well, but when you mention other reviews and what they said and then totally ignore the MP, a fairly big portion of what people are excited about, then you're just dumb.

Whatever, like I care about who likes it

    - Xbox is in its coffin and on its way to the repair center. Hopefully the doctors can be quick and thorough.

My 360 has red ringed on me again. Number 5 is on its way back to Texas.

I did "finish the fight" (until halo4 comes) though and I have to say I agree with Yahtzee on a lot of things.

played my first (few) xboxlive matches tonight, great stuff.

and the SP campaign was a little underwhelming up until the last few maps that i'm at, where i'm getting more and more impressed.

Yikes with the RROD parade D:

Next time mine breaks, I'll (obviously) send it in for "repairs", but I'll also get an Elite backup. I think having 2 in rotation should be enough. I'm sure as hell not gonna go through that painful waiting game again, I've had enough of that
