He's certainly gonna try to mess shit up what with Reps winning the House and Senate aswell. I hope he doesn't let the religious zealots in his party go crazy for starters.
In terms of world politics i actualy think he was the better of the two choices. I have hopes that he will end the emerging new cold war between Russia and the West. This whole development had me really worried about what Hillary was going to do.
Can only hope that Trump's relationship with Russia does not give Putin a free pass to claim more territory. Given some of Trump's past statements in this election, The future of NATO will be hard to predict.
What the American people need to do now though is be ready for the more extreme policy attempts coming in with Trump. his tax proposals will cost the US government billions in the first few years if he goes ahead and cuts them as much as he wants to. Stop and frisk is likely going to make it's return to the streets of the US, which while it did help getting guns off the street, the damage to race and police relationships was not really worth it.
I highly doubt the success of the wall, Mexico is not going to budge on paying for it and I doubt Trump will see it through without that funding coming in for it.
Then you've got planned parenthood, which will regress to what it is here in England, exclusive to rape victims and those who would not survive the birth. They said they might punish women who get abortions but they backpedalled on that, even the more extreme conservatives don't support punishing the mother.
Environment policies with Trump is holy shit bad. Willing to pull out of the Paris agreement and favour the extended use of fossil fuels. He wants clean air and water but I've not been able to find anything he has said about how he would do that. Given the fact even China now recognises global warming as man-made, Trump's stance is going to harm future environmental agreements.
I don't look forward to Pence either. The creator of the religious freedoms act which was nothing more than a free pass to discriminate against groups without consequence. With that increased power and influence, I'm worried what he'll try to pass.
I wonder how much of Trump's running policies will make it through, given how a lot of the Republican party does not even like Trump these days. For now we'll have to wait and see, do what we can to protect those who will be victims of violent discrimination in the coming months.
