I only played the entire (?) HL saga a few years ago.

Before that, I had to share the computer with my siblings, when most of the time we could only use it for a predetermined amount of time (nonsense rules). I think that's why I liked to spend so much time in the LAN houses... That shared computer was very, very slow, and didn't help me to get interested in mapping previously because it was a disaster when I wanted to load any game or something alike. Add to that a big spoon of dirty dust extracted from the old sister who thinks she could name what could and couldn't be installed on the machine, and the most useless computer gets born.

Anyway, playing Half Life for the first time over a decade later of its release, the game could still deliver an amazing and unforgettable experience for me. It was also interesting to notice things there that modern shooters apply to their designs nowadays.

I played hl1 on a gateway and didn't know you had to push the specimen towards the laser, so at a very young age I couldn't figure out how to get out of the testing chamberrrrr. Plus I remember being utterly terrified, so it's probably for the best.

Played it again like after hl2

Lets get super nerdy guys. How did you first play hl1? For me it was on a cyrix 200 @ 480 res in software mode at like 25fps

Pentium III 320 (or something like that) with 128mb of RAM at 480x320 in software mode

first time i played it was with a 200MMX pentium with an awful onboard graphics card on the absolute lowest software settings.

I still remember the christmas morning (waaay later) when I inserted the voodoo 2 card and tried opengl for the first time shit was so smooth i almost cried running around black mesa before the accident...
