Quote from SpronyAny new information about modding? I Googled like crazy but I didn't find anything.

The full doom panel is available here. Marty answers the question about modding at minute 48.
Excellent news. Thanks @BJA! Now let's hope it's available on release and not a year later ![]()
Still just is not doing it for me.

I was with you bro, but things seem to be shaping up quite nicely. Check out this preview of the MP. It could still be a giant turd of course, but I like what I've seen and read so far.
Well, this kind of worries me: http://www.pcgamer.com/doom-will-not-…ion-to-snapmap/
Oh I didn't know that... that's kind of weird. I love the idea of snapmap, it's easy and accessible but would be good to still allow modders to mod the game like they always used to.

Say it ain't so @BJA!!!!
Well this is silly. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to allow at least creating custom pieces to snap, which an expert modeler could exploit creating a bigger open space.
Wow, so people were really surprised when iD said SnapMap is all you get for the modding part of the game? To me, having even the SnapMap was one hell of a surprise and big extra for the core game. :nag:
I'm not surprised at all. So many dev's tow the line that the reason they don't release mod tools is that polishing their tools up for public use would be too much effort, so after making something like snapmap they're even less likely to do so. It is disappointing though. Ultimately, the lack of versatility in the tools will keep most seasoned modders away and the scene will be flooded by simple identikit maps and modes that don't evolve/improve over time in the way that more advanced mods do. Silly id.
People will mod it anyway. It's a shame that they make it needlesly hard to do though.
Well is not so surprising in presence of a polished tool like SnapMap, but I guess people were still hopeful since we are talking about Bethesda, a company that has the modding to thank for a lot of the success. Plus the recent attempt of paid mods…

Sorry, I also don't have any more infos about that, other than what has been said in interviews.
Oh and btw. we're hiring...in Germany/Frankfurt ![]()
It's sad and ironic, considering that the Doom franchise paved the way for PC games modding in the early 90s.
Anyone managed to get into the beta? I tried to redeem my Wolfesntein code today, but maybe I was already too late, code doesn't work anymore.
I can be wrong but I think this closed alpha is not related to the beta key you have from wolfenstein.
Also I can test it but didn't find any time this week end, what a shame !!!
I got in the alpha! I played it basically all day Saturday, I enjoyed it far more than I expected to. The demon runes made DM feel pretty fresh, to me at least. The game felt like a blend between Halo/Quake 3 - I mean that in a good way. Not quite as fast as Quake, but the weapons were really similar. The thing that really blew me away were the visuals. They didn't allow you to change video settings so maybe it wasn't the highest it could go, but either way it was god damn gorgeous.
If Quake 3 Arena/Quake Live was your thing I think you'll enjoy this alot.

That's actually pretty good news.
