But seriously, I agree that it running at 20fps and looking all 1977 isn't cool. But neither was the posts attitude. All I was getting at. I've been reading too much twitter lately, got me all negative nancy down over here.

I don't understand why you keep talking about porting. The game has been in development for 8 years, surely PS4 and Xbox One were the main target throughout, unless they always expected to be release after this long?

If that was true though, they would have released as next-gen launch titles, instead of taking advantage of back-compatibility to run on the new consoles, right?

It's totally in the player's right to expect a game to run decently, we are not talking about a PC gamer with an old machine hoping for the best, but a box with fixed spec the developer decided to release for: you owe to your customers to release a playable title. Since when it is normal to include a "fuck you peasant" card in each game box at the end of a generation? If not on a matter of principle and good customer service, you should recognise that often the best looking games are released at the end of the generation. Last of Us 2 is gorgeous and doesn't run like shit; Valhalla and Legion are sandbox games and I haven't heard complaints.

Plans change. Hardware changes. I've said it runs poorly and that's not acceptable. But also take into account the hardware it's trying to run on? And of course it is in the players rights to expect it to run decently. But it's hardly unheard of for games on release day to have performance issues and bugs. And when you take into account the scope of this game I'm saying that I'm not surprised that it runs badly on older hardware like a ps4.

And that guy even if mad, his tone and post still wasn't necessary.

I think it’s obvious they should have delayed it yet again. They were also perhaps a victim of having to ship for last gen consoles.

Gamers would have absolutely pissed their pants for more delays, but all in all it seems clear in hindsight that another 6-7 months could have made all the difference. This is a moment the entire industry can learn from, it doesn’t matter how angry people get, delay delay delay until it’s ready. Delay as long as it fucking takes. Zero chance they didn’t think it would have serious bugs on launch.

I don’t think this is a situation where you can ask either permission or forgiveness. You won’t be forgiven, and the public doesn’t grant your permission. This is a question of whether you have the guts to say no to the public, when they have already been fairly patient. They would have entered meme territory by adding additional delay, but it would have been worth it. Now it will be difficult to say the game delivered on its potential, and there is no going back on that.

Now that I've finished it, I don't even know what to say. It was one hell of a journey. Definitely had me hooked after it started to pick up the pace. And the characters are quite likeable. But the fucking endings.. kinda gut me.

There's some things I couldn't care less for, like crafting and the amount of skills. Some players might appreciate the depth of customisation, but I would have preferred something more streamlined. I mean, that's my general opinion on it. This could have been a great linear game with semi-open areas and some light customisation, something similar to Dishonored for instance. Don't get me wrong, the world is beautiful and a spectacle to look at, but they clearly overstretched themselves.

I wonder how much more buggy of a condition this would of released in if they hadn't of crunched like champions

Now that covid has messed with people's Christmas plans, they might just as well schedule a cozy Christmas Crunch™ to ship the patches faster.

    2020 vs 2016

Seems about right. I still don't understand why people are mad about it
