My biggest complaint right now is that there is really no 'Real' need for people to work together. The game needs coop functionality, besides the basic survival/shooter/socializing aspects. Even Rust and 7 days to die (alphas) are far ahead of this in terms of things to build, craft, etc.

My first impressions were this: The Running Simulator, which is what this game pretty much comes down too, and that every one person I tried to meet turned out to be a psychopath, probably so bored all they do is shoot/kill you, ask questions later. And later to find out that if your server has a Voip, get on it, meet the people and enjoy the game more (which I have now.) If your on TS, etc with some people its more enjoyable.

Yeah the zombies aren't a big enough threat to force people to work together to loot a town. There's simply not enough of them and they die in one hit (from a fire axe or gun) to any part of the body. It's definitely more fun if you're playing with a group of friends. At least then you can work together and hold people up instead of just shooting on sight and if people do shoot at you it's a lot of fun trying to flank those people whilst someone pins them down.

I played last night for a few hours and me and my friends saw nobody except for a few fresh spawns killing themselves because their spawn sucked. All we did was run from the top of the map to Elektro at the bottom.

I think next time I die I'm going to have a break from DayZ until they implement more features or at least get some vehicles in so I don't have to run so much.

My best moments were when i was playing on a semi-roleplay server, where there were differents factions with their own camps. This was a private srever with a mature (lol, in fact there was a lot of jerks) community. What i found cool was to work with teamplay, loot, raid, etc... There were some gamemaster to create some basic mission, or to add new content from Arma 2. That was fun.

I left this server because people were too serious in their roles, too much roleplay for me...

I'm not that kind of guy who like to play a roleplay with people i don't know. I was just playing for factions, semi-persistent world, and known people.

Our group pulled off a few similar events last night, taking hostages and making them box each other in the local warehouses, while one of our guys played 'Eye of the Tiger.'

So this game is slowly becoming about humiliating people that don't rush fast enough to find a gun...

Yes and no, and now I completely take back what I said about it being a pos. Anyway our group actually polices roads and cities, we take down bandits and help new spawns and lone survivors. Its actually incredible fun.

    In short:

    Quote

"I'm really good at risk-taking and making other people take risks, I've always been good at that in my life," Hall said. "But eventually, that's the bad person to have. Eventually, you don't want the guy telling you to go over the top and get through. So at some point I'll be a disaster for the project, at least in a leadership role." Hall said he will stay with the project as long as he is needed. After that, he'll leave DayZ to the development team at Bohemia Interactive, though he'll always be involved to some extent. He plans to return to his native New Zealand and start a studio of his own. From there he will pursue more multiplayer survival concepts and may even pitch them to publishers, though "not under traditional terms". "I feel like DayZ is a fundamentally flawed concept, and I've always recognised that," Hall said. "It's not the perfect game; it's not the multiplayer experience, and it never can be, [with] the absolute spark that I want in it."

Yeah I read that the other day. I don't think it will particularly affect DayZ development to be honest, I don't think he has a particularly big impact on development any more... But I dunno. Seems a bit weird that he is just jumping ship. I think he runs the risk of potentially ruining his credibility if he just keeps on leaving projects shortly after they just get started... Who wants a guy like that on their team?

I've been playing shitloads of DayZ standalone recently, and it is such a brilliant experience. One of my favourite games of the past few years. Sure, it's buggy as shit and might look shitty in parts, but it is so damn intense. Been playing with a couple of mates from uni, and we're having an awesome time! The gun combat in the game is absolutely brutal...

Yeah I think the game will be just as good without him, I'm still a huge Rocket fan though
