So, what shall the tutorial be based around? Should we create a new mechanic that no one has used before? Or keep it something that every engine can create? Or... leave it up to the designer to choose which mechanic / ability / whatever they want to teach?

Designer choice sounds best. It would give headroom for all kinds of really wacky ideas

I would think that a predefined mechanic that every engine can create would be the best option. Doing it this way would ensure the most level playing field and also focus the challenge on making a tutorial fun rather than making a fun tutorial (if that makes any sense)

Also I haven't really been here long so hello everyone!

    Hey guys,

vivi and I are putting together plans for getting things rolling again with the challenges. I'd wanted to start right at the start of April, but work schedules are going to push that back a bit. Look for the start of something in the next 2-3 weeks!

That's perfect timing for me! Looking forward to it

    Update :

While we finalize the rules, I'm putting together a small showcase map like I did for "The Door" challenge.

Might take me another week or so since I only have weekends to work on it. I'll keep you guys up to date on the progress.

We're taking a little detour while vivi works out his example map for the next big challenge, and taking advantage of the timing of a fun new toy coming out next week.

Just want to get a feeler. There are a lot of great games out there right now (and soon) that deserve our attention. I would like to see how many wouldn't mind holding off the next design challenge for another month or so.

    Just checking the Pulse. :santahurg:
