I gotta say that those hacking mini games are really well designed.

DX:HR Ending:
QuoteTo me, it felt like all of the endings ended up being the same thing - humanity will figure shit out on its own, thanks. I really wish they'd only had the fourth ending where you have to self-destruct the station. That one felt "right" to me.
It was a really weird shift, once they just sent waves of augs after you. "What's that, you didn't want to kill anyone? Well here's a solid wall of enemies. Good luck, asshole."
And this is a dead horse, but the final boss battle was especially atrocious. It felt like something from an N64 game.
I cringed every time it went into a cutscene, because I knew something shitty was going to happen and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it until the cutscene was over.
I agree with the hugely detailed spaces, though. I've never seen such beautiful supply closets! Most of my screenshots are of shelves and clutter. The plot character offices are beautiful, I loved exploring them and figuring out something about the person I was about to fight in an unfortunately terrible boss battle.
Also thought it was odd that some of the weapons were basically impossible to find. Crossbow especially, I wish that was available earlier. They seemed like afterthoughts. Maybe available for cash, which I had wads of by the end of the game.
I don't know how you had wads of cash, I explored virtually everything and was still running low at the end (mostly because of buying praxis points). ![]()
I bought most Praxis I found in LIMB, except for the last one (?) because I still needed a few bucks and didn't want to murder every citizen to get some cash.
About the end, the battle was insanely easy. 210342% easier than the previous boss battles, exactly.
QuoteWhen I chose the selfdestruction ending, it didn't show anything, only a black screen with some sound effects and after that, that common Discovery Channel-like video.
Should it have shown something?
If yes, my video card needs a replacement.
I rarely bought any PRAXIS, only in late game when I had shitloads of money, could afford more than the LIMB had on stock.
There's quite a lot of PRAXIS hiden in the game, safes, etc.
I never really felt the need to buy Praxis points, and I was still able to max out the skills I cared about.
@Al Anselmo - It wasn't broken, that's what it is - I just though the ending made more sense in that context. It almost felt like that was the original, and they made the other three so there was some illusion of choice.
oh, thank you for clearing that up!
I really disliked how DX:HR rewarded you when you wanted to play pacifist. Oh, you didn't get Typhoon or weapon enhancements? Here, have this boss, and lube isn't provided.
I agree that the last boss was extremely easy, and strangely it's the only boss fight I enjoyed in the game.
i think its been pretty much admitted by everyone that the boss fights in HR were an unmitigated disaster and nearly ruined a great game
I quite enjoyed the last boss because you could a actually use your abilities and think, whereas the others were like 'OH SHIT YOU GONNA DIE' then you watch a loading screen 20 times. I suspect the last one was the only one actually made by the main HR team, whereas we know the rest were done externally.
I've already made this argument but again, for me the ending was appropriate. Would it really have been better if we saw some clips of the world in the aftermath of your decision? Would it have made the game's message any more meaningful?
BTW I think the 'blow everything up' ending is a cop-out, avoiding making a proper decision concerning how you feel about illuminati influence, augmentation, your loyalty to Sarif, etc. I really enjoyed thinking hard about how I felt on these issues. Grow some balls and make a proper choice. ![]()
Been playing some Resident Evil 6!
I gotta say it's not as bad as people are making it to be. Sure, it's a bit on the action side, and my god QTE everywhere, but all in all it's a really fun game. Resident evil survival horror days are gone, the RE games have changed, some people like this formula better, others hate it. But for someone who played every single Resident Evil thus far (except the GameCube ones) this one is a worthy addiction to the series. Not as good as the timeless classic Resident Evil 4 but... Not bad.
Art wise, I love how it reminds me of re2 art direction and color pallets, it really takes me back and makes me enjoy it a bit more. On the gameplay side, it sure feels a lot smoother to play than any other in the series, which is good cos you're gonna be doing a lot of combat in this game... A lot.
All in all, a good game but I still think this will probably mark the last of the franchise as we know it. They're prolly gonna do a reboot of the series now and I hope they go more athospheric and moody and horror like and less action packed game. There's already too many games that do that, and not enought games that do atmospheric horror well, like RE used to do.
Ps. Playing split-screen co-op with the wife proved to be an awesome experience, eheh.
Quote from Senturagem range is 1100, riki's blink is 800. in the heat of the teamfight you may say that gem obviously doesn't counter him, as the other team may be focused elsewhere, except that he attacking all this while, making the point moot. if his team doesn't succeed riki's escape is very limited, because his ultimate skill is entirely countered by a 700g item. the whole point of this conversation is that his ultimate doesn't give him an advantage that he otherwise wouldn't have without it.
...maybe what it actually needs is an activate part that stealths him with his current fade time into true invis, shielding him from every kind of detection for 2-3 seconds.
You and I have a very different interpretation of the words "entirely countered". The 700g gem only counters rikis ultimate within a 1100 range of the carrier and on the same or below ground level as the carrier. Which means that if you have 4 other targets you can focus and you can still roam the map freely and not care about wards just as normally before the gem. This is not "entirely countered" in my book.
Imho it would be on par of saying that ghost scepter entirely counters all right click heroes.
true stealth is an interesting concept though.
Just finished Darksiders on the PS3. I still cannot grasp why nobody picked up the license. Sure, the game is a bit rough around the edges but I had a blast playing it. Bought it for 17 euro and had 23 hours of fun. Money well spent!
i don't quite understand how you do not see it as entirely countered. my point is that riki is likely to get destroyed post teamfights because his ultimate leaves him with nothing due to gem. whereas e.g. armadon's ulti gives him movespeed and damage regardless of whether a gem is in existence. what you mention with roaming is irrelevant because riki could do the same thing if he didn't have his ultimate.

Heh, I did think about it before I chose the first time, and I decided I hated the other three choices. All three groups were full of shit. I'd been lied to by all of them, and all their choices seemed equally Pyrrhic. I didn't want to choose any of the others. And the other ending videos imply that basically the same thing happened anyway.
I think showing the aftermath would have been less of a cop out. But what I really would have liked is if your individual actions earlier in the game had made any sort of difference, so they could use a Fallout/F:NV style ending showing the repercussions of your actions earlier in the game. In DX:HR, it didn't matter how I'd played the game, it was just some arbitrary choice tacked onto the end.
Unreal world, this is such an unique game, some sort of rogue like / survival game, i've never seen anything like it. It's super time sinking, and i spent 15 minutes throwing rocks at a squirrel in a tree. But damn that was fun
I played the game on the hardest difficulty, but I was forced to change to the easiest one in the second and third boss battles. They were impossible to be beaten!
I didn't use typhoon and I didn't have any weapon enhancement, though. So, I didn't use typhoon in any boss.
The last boss was beaten in less than 20 seconds. Really easy.
QuoteActivate invis just to reach and disable the four pads, hack the machine (I had hack enhancements maxed) and make that lady suck all the laser at once.
trying to play assasins creed and I'm really digging the quality of the leveldesign but the tedious menus, boring and way too long cutscenes, uninteresting douchebaggy characters and the forced tutorials for retards kind of ruins it for me. and I'm not even talking about the shitty console port part.
