The Dark Knight Rises

    Good film, but it's definitely the weakest link in the trilogy. I found that the main plot was confusing and

    was cheap and wasn't handled very well. There was not much elegance in the way the story unfolded really.

    Despite this, the film was entertaining and certainly kept me interested. Really liked how Bane and Selina Kyle was portrayed.

    Finally saw it last night...yeah I know it's been out for a while and this is old news.

    However, I did like it a lot. I thought it was really entertaining and in some ways kinda sad, but that's cause I'm a sucker for Christopher Nolan movies.

    However, part 2...

    I guess The Dark Knight (2nd film in the series, I mean) had huuugggeeee plot holes as well and a ton of dialogue that made no sense and was contradictory, even by the Joker character. But even with all that Heath Ledger made that film friggin insanely good even if a lot of the shit made no sense.

    I soooo want Plinket of RLM to review all three movies.

    It was a'ight. I did go in with no expectations but I'm sure that if I was even slightly hyped that I would of been disappointed. My main gripe was that I found the entire first act to be a bit of a jumbled mess. Thankfully the film got its shit together for the rest of the film which immediately made it more enjoyable.

    Late to the party, but just saw this and though it was awesome! I can't say it was better than its incredible predecessors, but I can't way it was worse either — a very fitting and satisfying conclusion to two films that'd already raised the bar to crazy levels.

    Bane was just a superb villain from beginning to end. From the moment he was introduced with Zimmer's 'oh shit is gon go down today' music to the very end, just a totally captivating performance and he gave off a truly evil aura.

    I agree that his death was very abrupt, but in a way I think it was the right move because they'd just made you sympathetic to how someone became such an evil fuck in the first place (quite an accomplishment in itself) and it was better to make his exit clean IMO, leaving our memory of Bane as something created by terrible circumstances rather than an inherently evil person like other Batman villains. Plus, Batman had essentially already beaten him and it was only his policy of not finishing his enemies off that allowed his survival.

    Great film, and having now seen all three relatively closely together it's really striking how they contrast with each other — the transition of Gotham from something truly horrible in Batman Begins into a really clean, peaceful city as presented in The Dark Knight Rises is great. Interesting how TDKR depicts Gotham in daylight a lot more than its predecessors, emphasising the lifting of crime and evil I guess, and making Bane's attempts to bring it back even more powerful.

    I think it works. The whole idea is to emphasise how far Gotham has come thanks to Batman, and using the relatively sparkling New York contrasts with the grotty Chicago-based Gotham really well. Of course it's worth bearing in mind we're only talking about the cityscape shots here, much of the street-level shooting was done in other cities (including London).

    Admittedly I did find myself taken out of the fiction for just a moment when I spotted a couple of obvious New York landmarks, but then I guess if I were more familiar with Chicago the same would be the case in the earlier films. I guess a city that I don't see much helps to make it feel like a fictional city.

    Whatever the case, I think they did a great job of creating a believable Gotham by mashing loads of cities together. The third film's Gotham definitely has a distinctly different look, but that's kind of the point.

    y'all are faggots. i just watched this and it was amazing from start to finish. if you're going to qq over "plot holes" but not over some of the ludicrous shit like perfectly blown bridges, time of day changing over the space of 10 seconds (escape from wall street anyone?), etc etc... then you didn't quite suspend your belief hard enough.

    i give it 10 alfreds out of 10.
