This game kicks ass. The voice acting for the main characters (the Joker in particular) is really good, too.
* Edit - Also, if anyone is struggling to get a feel for the combat, definitely acquire + practice on the first challenge map (you get it by doing riddler's challenges). Once you figure out the rhythm for striking, blocking and building up combos, it's a lot more satisfying. I was button mashing for the first couple of hours, but I just figured out that you just orient the camera and then press once per attack; this gives you much more control + damage. You can then build up huge combos that span the entire round and perform lots of critical strikes + throws etc. It's awesome

It's pretty great, one of the better games I've played this year so far. I think I'm about 20% in. Probably will finish plowing through it during my internet-less window at the new apartment (stealing my wife's computer for the weekend before she moves down
) -
Yeah this game is great, have done tons of stuff already and im only 35% into the game so far. Btw the guy vocing batman, is that the same guy from mass effect?
-
No, but it is: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0175834/
They got most of the cast of the animated series to do the game VO - including Hamill as the Joker, who is fantastic.
-
Sorry to bump an older thread but Ifinally got around to playing the demo off PSN. It's a short demo, but definitely makes you want to play the whole thing. Very impressed that we finally have a good Batman game.
-
It's even better towards the end when you get new toys and can solve a lot of the riddles that were inaccessible at the start. I just finished collecting all of the riddles, and it was way more fun than it has any right to be
The challenge maps are way more addictive than you'd think, too. -
loved the riddles where you had to stand and look in a spesific angle to solve them, havent tried the challenge maps yet though, and I wonder what the dlc will be about

i bought it for ps3 2 weeks ago but it took play.com over a weeks to deliver D:
so far
+level navgiation feels fluid and tight
+combat is satisfieng as hell and silent take downs even more so !
+ some insane texture resolutions on the characters
+ all around great production value
+ embraces the ip !
+metorid eque world structure
- ugly color palette especially out doors
- unreal engine 3 fog and fov at its worst D: hurts my eyes D:
id definitely call this "the" surprise hit of the year !

-
"- ugly color palette especially out doors"
I agree that the outdoor areas aren't the prettiest (bland, flat green
), but I really like the rest of the colours. The cool prison greens + warm orange contrast gives me a nice HL2 prison nostalgic glow
The sewers in particular have some really nice colours going on. Those areas strongly remind me of the colours found on various "abandoned" photograph websites. There was one tunnels shot on one of those sites that was an exact match, but I'll be damned if I can find it. -
I heard that the PC version has several crash issues with Games For Windows Live, including some fatal blue screens for some users... D:

Deliberate glitch foils arkham PC pirates.

Awesome.

Epic stuff!

Very cool, but they've got to be very careful with that sort of 'protection'. I've read about similar things before and there was a lot of negative word of mouth about it. In particular, I remember reading about one game which included several deliberate crash bugs in the pirated version; the game soon gained a (totally unfair) reputation as being really buggy because of it! Furthermore, the more features you add, the bigger the risk of adding more bugs and/or introducing the sabotaged feature in a legitimate customer's copy.
Subtly destroying a pirate's enjoyment of the game is pretty funny though, and I'm guessing since it's buried in the game mechanics it'll be a little harder for the pirates to find & fix. Not that much harder, though...
-
Hahaha that's pretty funny.
