Yeah, seems to me the whole point is that it's CryEngine 2, just multi-platform. Looks pretty good to me.

Looks a bit mingin to me, but then it is for consoles. Just a bit confusing they called it cryengine 3

I'm not exactly over excited about this one. Seems on par with the best console engines out there already.

my word it looks horrible in comparison with otherengines. it seems unpolished.

Lets face it though, those two screenshots are about the worst in the video. For Console it looks very good indeed. That is if you want big scaled environments. Oh and that videos quality kind of sucks

I thought they had fucked up somewhere and included UT3 footage in the first part of that trailer.

Yeah, I saw all that stuff real time when I was at Crytek offices, and I admit it looked 1000+ times better, maybe It's the video compression, camera angles, I don't know. but the urban environments definitely looks badass, and I also loved that brief corridor, looked so awesome!

Why call it cryengine 3, though? Wouldn't a new name be more appropriate considering its identical to cryengine 2 but pumping less detail and is for consoles?

Yeah I think its weird that they removed a lot of stuff, made things look uglier (to make it multiplatform), and then call it CryEngine 3.

Should be named CryEngine 1.5 or something, or at least 2.5

It doesn’t look particularly impressive for a console, either.

Also: The name is for marketing. They’re not going to call it 1.5! How could that possibly advertise better?
