the guy chasing camera through doorway shot is getting a little overused in games today...

Interesting art style, bit too brownish this latest batch of shots tho.

I still think Doom3 art style is better than this!

-
honestly i like the mos eisley feel to it. it's not brown like fallout and not grey like everything else. it has a nice contrast between colors, at least where buildings are. for more barren scenarios - well, let's see.
-
I think it's giving off more of a blue vibe than a brown one..

Quote"theres a lot of combat variety in Rage, through engineered weapons (like turrets and a toy car with a bomb strapped to it), environmental kills (electrocuting water, etc.) and your arsenal of guns""I was not prepared to see how the AI moves through the world and reacts to damage. There are many clans in the Rage world, all with their own attributes, and the one we saw were particularly acrobatic, swinging down from the pipe fixtures and flipping off walls as they executed attacks. Most impressive was when the player turned down a hallway and one came in, bouncing off the walls before roundhouse kicking our character in the face. They quickly knocked down turrets and got right back to their primary target"
Interesting small bit from video (not in text preview) - when player dies, it's not forced to repeat game since last checkpoint, "Nanotech" revives player and continues playing from same position.

Maybe it's cause deserts are brown.
-
-
It's a desert, it's hot! Now it's perfect for me. If I could change something I would add more red, maybe desaturate yellow/brown - now it's a bit circus-saturated... Also some of the details are a bit too dark. And where the fu*k are creates!? That's just my thoughts...

What, no! Are you trying to bring the UT3 era back? Fuck desaturated environments... I'm sorry seir, but I so don't agree with you!
When i said it looked a bit too brownish for me, i was talking about the art direction and the kind of mood those screenshots are selling, I didn't said it was wrong (It's actually probably pretty accurate, it is a desert) and if anything I would ADD a few more color variation. You're saying you would remove color, remove the contrast, and have desaturated and pale environments?

-
I disagree too, it looks better saturated.
-
But I like desaturation

EDIT:
No, really, all my latest levels are desaturated a bit (about 30%). If the "normal saturation" is good now I won't sleep tonight and tomorrow at work I'll change all the color curves
Doh, I'm out of trends, what whould I do without mapcore

I think it looks great the way it is. Still very curious as to how the driving turns out, looks awfully flimsy from the videos I've seen so far.
-
-
Ehh. Still looks nice but jeeze, we've been looking at basically the same stuff for years now. Hype officially absent for me,

-
Is it me or do those shots look surprisingly ugly? Maybe I've been spoiled too much by Metro and what we've got in NS2 but those screens look... poor. The characters look hella low poly, blurry textures, and those rocks in the background of the last screen just look whoa rough.
Someone pop up and tell me these are from the console and not the PC.
-
It's just you.
-
I agree that the rocks look pretty shank. In fact that last screenshot as a whole looks fairly unimpressive. The character models do look a bit low-poly too (particularly the arms), though the great texturing on them makes up for it quite a bit.
I remember looking at almost identical screenshots in what, 2007? And it's due for a 2011 release. You'd think with the long development time there'd at least be more new impressive stuff shown off to kind of wet people up. Otherwise you're better off just showing nothing.
After just watching the epic destruction in the Crysis 2 videos (which was probably developed in less time) I've officially lost my hype for RAGE. Hope future media changes that as I was once well excited about it.

[Blocked Image: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/7841/wellspring2.jpg]i love you man but
the original is leaps and bounds better than the modified version
-
Yeah the original looks way more what I'd expect an actual environment like that to look like. Our world isn't desaturated and lacking heavy contrast — that so many games keep doing it irritates me.

-
Just watched the G4 coverage of the gameplay demo. You people are insane. This game is gorgeous.
