Indeed, I've seen people have actual conversions with these types and not notice until several post later...

    Bot is taken care of.

Grim Dawn looks interesting, reminds me of the game I worked before.

Completely forgot about Grim Dawn, definitely more along the lines of what I wanted D3 to look like. My biggest objection to the current D3 look is how smooth they have everything. I'm hoping they'll add some noise in there later on down the road.

Bah, even starcraft 2, it's mechs and hard-surface stuff, yet they have a smooth and rounded finish.

I know what you mean, they're almost a bubble version of themselves. I got used to it pretty quick though so hopefully I can do the same with D3 if they don't rough up some of their surfaces like they should.

With BlizzCon 2010 underway, the D3 info that's been released is really great. There's a D3 presskit that's been released (over 1GB) with a 19 minute video showing off various gameplay and I think the art team is brigging everything up to standard. I actually like the way it's starting to look and I'm getting pumped about this game again.

Here's the video on youtube in case you don't want to download the presskit:

from the first clips to now there seems to have a progression into a darker mood, which i think is perfect. the sand levels really remind me of act 2 of diablo 2 (which, incidentally were my favorite part of the game). not so sure about the classes though... what happened to just calling them what they were before? i don't really see how a witch doctor is something you'd see in every camp, village or town.

the CG trailer for the demon hunter was stupid as hell. Horrid dialog. The concept of a magic crossbow shotgun class is cool though.

Dude, all of those cg trailers for the various classes are AWFUL. Honestly, the Demon Hunter one was better than the wizard or monk's.

Is it just me, or are those trailers introducing the monk and the wizard *really* poorly done, cheesy/corny? It looks like a fan-made machinima, not something that should be on blizzard's website..

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. A little better but still looks like a top down WoW. Maybe it's the videos that just put me off, we'll see.

I really like some areas that are shown in the video but I agree that it's not quit there yet. Plus we still haven't seen the later acts in the game where evil is supposed to have it's foothold through out. I recommend downloading the presskit to watch the video in the highest definition.

But how can it look evil when it looks like WoW arararararar

I wouldn't necessarily say it looks like WoW but it's still a far cry from D1 and D2. We're just going to have to wait and see I guess.

isn't that pretty much how it goes down with every game?

Flux posted some screens from a late-ish (presumably) build of D3 when the Blizzard North (rip) guys were working on it:

    http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/commen ... o-iii/P10/

Even though the characters look out of place, likely because of development stage, the environment uses the same palette/style as D2 and just looks soooo much better than Irvine's D3. Just imagine what we could have had if the North guys were still together

Hah, that's awesome. For something that got canned back in 2005 then it looks surprisingly good now (Get kind of a God of War vibe from some of those shots).

I still quite like what they're doing with D3 now, but it definitely doesn't hold true to what the old games looked like, where as this certainly does...or did.

Wow, that is just so much better than what's in development now in terms of retaining the same look and feel.

    God damnit.

Damn that looked amazing, much more in the spirit of the previous titles (in terms of palette and looks) that what Blizzard is doing now.

Gah! I'm comparing the screens to the current D3 ones... I don't even know if I want to play D3 when it comes out now

uh are you guys mad? That looks like 1999.

The current color palette looks far more interesting imo.
