Stage6 to Shut Down on February 28!

Damn, I can't believe it... Stage6 will shut down in 2 days!

I can't imagine the internet without Stage6, It's the only decent site that hosted decent quality videos.

and why is this? tbh - stage6 can't just shut down? if you wanted to get more than just an impression of a trailer you could always go stage6 instead of yt and simmilars and had the most decent quality ever for a stream. is it because of the illegal uploads or what`?

The official line is that it was too expensive for them to run.

High-quality, high-definition content is a costly beast -- and making money off it is tricky. It's even stretching Google to keep YouTube running smoothly, and it still has problems quite frequently.

People often forget that thousands of dollars per month go into hosting services like this. The popular ones are the most likely to be forced into closure (I can very much see Vimeo eventually going the way way, although I've been saying that about Vimeo for a couple of years and they haven't gone down yet).
