Furyo
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6186637.ht ... op;title;1 Sounds like a matter of when rather than if at this point. Take Two execs may say no, I'm not sure the shareholders won't say yes. Of course GTA IV added in the balance will be an interesting thing to see. Can one game really make a difference on this scale? FrieChamp
It can surely put a higher price tag on the company, as the take 2 chairman says himself (in regards to not entering any acquisition talks before april 29th/the gta4 release): "We believe this offer demonstrated our commitment to pursuing all avenues to maximize stockholder value, while we believe that EA's refusal to entertain this path is evidence of their desire to acquire Take-Two at a significant discount, whereas we believe this value rightly belongs to our stockholders." All this acquisitioning and merging is getting worrysome...
Algor
No, you can't buy us out... not until GTA4 ships... and not until you triple your offer.... then yeah. Deal. Stay independent, and most of all, stay classy, San Diego.
Mazy
Can't blame EA for trying, but I seriously doubt that Take 2's shareholders have so little grasp on the situation at this time that they'd sell to EA. Still tho, seems like things are pretty shakey inside Take 2, and have been for ages. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for stability's sake to have EA take charge of em. Quakis
OPA to 64% ! Woah !EA will be the third editor of Duke Nukem Forever ! Don't know if you're serious or not, but either way. Even if EA did buy out Take Two, they will have nothing over DNF. Ever. And niether does Take Two. This matter has been cleared up over at the 3DR thread here. JohnC
As discovered on the 3D Realms boards..... http://www.eatake2.com/index.htm I don't like what he says either. He conveniently ignores Take 2's big upcoming releases and just claims to be riding into the fray in the nick of time to save them.

Patrick_H
It doesn't matter who's doing it, any move towards monopoly is a bad thing.
JohnC
Apparently, the "hostile takeover" strategy is still in the maybe pile: http://www.nypost.com/seven/02272008/business/ea_could_become_hostile_in_takeover_99426.htm Then again, this is coming from the New York Post... zaphod
wouldn't EA own every major sports license if they bought take two?
JohnC
I think so. Building a sports monopoly was another thing they denied in their release on eatake2.com. I thought THQ had a couple sports franchises, the Motocross games being all I can think of.
