-HP- Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 BRAVIA advert redone in CryEngine2, Just... HOLY SHIT! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30965.html There's also this, no so impressive one, aimed at archviz: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30969.html Quote
Thrik Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Oh fuck me, that's amazing. I guess we now have our first real proof of concept for how well the engine can handle urban environments when done properly. Just to clarify, the end of the video confirms that it is real time, but the specifications of the machine aren't given. Quote
-HP- Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 Knowing the engine, I can say something like this scene can easly run at ~50FPS on a 8800GTX at fairly high resolutions. Quote
Quakis Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 That's it... UE3 and CryE2 are deffinitely my next engines of choice when I get round to it. I'll probably still mess with Source, but those other two have a lot of stuff I've always wanted to work with. Quote
Sentura Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 i'm sorry but this fails to impress me in terms of realism. you can so easily distinguish this from the original piece of work (sony bravia commercial). it looks computer animated. Quote
Thrik Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 I don't think that's really bad going since you can still tell a computer-generated film in most cases when you see one. For a game engine this is superb, and that's the point. Nobody's saying they've crossed the border of rendering reality. Quote
-HP- Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 Btw, it's not everything real-time, the physics are pre-calculated! Quote
Seldoon182 Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 ":1astoolh]Btw, it's not everything real-time, the physics are pre-calculated! It doesn't matter this is really beautifull [HP]... I'm gona buy Crysis because of your Volcano map and all your advert on the Cryengine 2 ! Quote
Thrik Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Well, all that means is those millions of flying teapots are animated traditionally. It doesn't make it any less impressive IMO as the scene looks great even without all the teapots. Quote

I'm gona buy Crysis because of your Volcano map and all your advert on the Cryengine 2 ! Lol, same for me, when I see all these beautifull maps and trailers and what else that the Cryengine is capable of. Now I just have to wait for my new PC... Quote
Psyshokiller Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Beautifully done. Anyone noticed the chicken? Quote
Seldoon182 Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Having a look to this link and I really agree with Quakis and [HP]. Cryengine2 is really the best real-time engine. Before to rush to my store and buy this BB, here the thread dedicated to the release of the Crysis Sdk. Quote
D3ads Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 That stupid chicken spoils the scene imho and some of the textures could have done with some work but other than that, there is no better engine capable of such graphics, only 4 years from now and we'll be closer to realism than ever.. roll on Cryengine 3 Quote

I wouldn't say it spoils anything at all. Quote
Taylor Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 These bouncing teapots offer no gameplay whatsoever! Quote
