-HP- Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Man, this thread actually made me watch Aliens 2 again, last time I saw it was like maybe 6/7 years ago. This movie is made of pure awesomeness, I mean if this exact same movie was to be released on this year, 2008, it would still be a blockbuster hit! James Cameron did a phenomenal work back in 1986! After watching it again, and comparing to Aliens VS Predator 1 and 2, (The movies), and maybe even another recent action/horror movies, made me think on the lack of originality most of the movies has nowadays! Aliens 2 is a really bad-ass oldschool movie, and it still lives in my top5 favorite movies all times, so I hope Gearbox manages to capture the feeling, and to successfully integrate the player into the Aliens universe, and not only try to make another shooter with the word "Aliens" on it. That AVP is unoriginal might be related to the fact that it's a combination of two already existing movie series, and is thus effectively managing to bleed two great franchises dry at the same time. Good job Quote

Good job I would argue that ALIENS is one of the most important archetypal influences on the video game industry from all forms of media. In fact, it might be the most important film ever made from the perspective of the video game industry. Yeah, I know the original Star Wars movies have been direct inspirations for many games, but I still say ALIENS is more important overall. It is also probably in my personal top 5 movies of all time. dux Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Alien was the most suspense riddled piece of awesome ever! How freaking atmospheric was it, if it's atmosphere weighed anything it could anchor a planet. Aliens kept the atmosphere and even improved on it. As soon as they entered the base the hair on my neck was on end. A real change from all the hardass talk on the Sulaco and APC. Alien 3 had awesome sets and design, it was very gritty and very cool at times. I don't know why people hate it that much, though having Hicks and Newt dead was pretty suck. Alien: Resurrection I liked it, it wasn't very good compared to the first 3 but I still liked it. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Resurrection has mild entertainment value as a cheesy sci-fi popcorn flick but as a continuation to the Aliens saga........ ....... Quote
-HP- Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 In my humble opinion, It's very lame, grabing a couple of characters from a previous movie, kill them, and make a sequel with only a single character. That's one of the reasons why most of the people didn't liked Alien 3. Plus, David Fincher is not nearly as good director as James Cameron! Quote
