I've never liked how they use the aliens as cannon fodder in these games. They were so compelling in Alien and Aliens because there were so few of them (or even just one) and they were still formidable / scary. Something more like the RE3 Nemesis, or the raptors in Jurassic Park, not "intelligent" but still cunning and smart. A "real" xenomorph from the movies would never just run at them so stupidly like that... it would wait, then run away if it was fought off, etc.

I'm 50/50 on that video. Some of it is really nice an some of it is really bleh.

this game gets all off the branding / iconic elements / themes / visuals / details right of what makes the aliens universe what it is but gets all the things that make me excited about playing an action game wrong.

... in a way that is the exact opposite of the syndicate reboot which gets all of the branding stuff wrong but gets me super hyped about the action/gameplay part ...

As an Aliens fan, I know very well what happened. And hadleys hope should have been a radioactive ruin, if not a radioactive crater.

“How long ’til it blows?”

“Four hours. With a blast radius of 30 kilometers; equal to about 40 megatons.”

And, that reactor was generating oxygen for the atmosphere, so how are they going to explain that there's still air is beyond me.

But then again, keeping the colony intact lets them show locations from the film again, which is always good.

Fan service games ftw,eheh.

Man, I’m a huge Aliens fan. I can tell they are trying, and trying hard, but could this be another failed Aliens game?

-Pulse Rifle sound is wrong, and horrible. Sounds like a bunch of cats farting at the same time. And the prox sensor sounds wrong too? (Here’s what it needs to sound like:

)

-The weapon on the screen looks like it’s been glued there?

-And even tho I realize this is the gameplay video, it’s horribly put together, wtf is going on?

-What’s with the crossair highlight when you hit something? Get rid of that, omg!

-The thing with recent Aliens games is that Aliens are now cannon fodder, whereas in the movies a single Alien can kill you and all your mates. And that’s something AvP1 managed to get right, one of those fuckers would get you killed, It’s just impossible to make a good Aliens game in the Call of Duty era, scripted events and over the top action is not that this universe is about.

-What engine is this? Doesn’t look very… good?

-The thing I really enjoyed was the hive sections, the fog really makes it look good.

With that being said, there's still a few months till shipping so they're still working on the game. Hope they manage to give it the final polish touches that will really make it stand out among the other Aliens games.

Looks alright, I hope the MP is as good as AVP2. Holy shiiiiite.

That Pulse Rifle sounds like that weird water distortion effect you can get on your sound card. Also, the noise the Aliens make is hilarious, it sounded like an injured dolphin at one point hahaha.

Mostly you are right HP, but the graphics are not that bad, imo (still too clean) about that COD era, we just need to get over it, but there will be loads of PFS till that happend

im very curious how they will explain that big infestation on USS SULACO ?
