Thrik Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 My (Pre-ordered!) copy finally arrived today. Will be playing it tonight. Quote
Furyo Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 im not about to replay the game to change my choices, the outcomes really had no substantial effect. i beat it last night at i think 36 hours and now im running around killing pigeons. there really needs to be a way to let you know which ones are left, if i get 199 and cant get the last im going to be pretty pissed. ive found that all the money in the game is useless, i have like 64k and all i can spend it on is clothes and guns? i could play for another 200 hours and not spend the rest. i want to buy mansions, helicopters and cars. lastly, what is the point of the like and respect percentages? i dont see them really doing anything. I hear you on the pigeons deal, even if you can take a screenshot of IGN/Google's map locations, and process them one by one so you don't miss one out. I'm doing the races now, and as far as likeness and respectability is concerned, respect doesn't get you anything and likeness gets you an achievement. Which is just painful to get. Quote
Furyo Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 You can't buy properties in GTAIV? No and that's one of my biggest gripes with the game. That and no garage on your safehouses, but a parking spot, making any car you'd leave there stay while you sleep and not regenerate to a brand new one. The major drawback is it's just a matter of luck now to get the Infernus, as you'll have to go looking for one now, and there is no sure way of getting one too. Quote
Buddy Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 So the safehouses are more like in GTA3 then? Quote
Furyo Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Sorry, started with Vice City, don't know how the third plays out like. Quote
Buddy Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 In 3 You had one safehouse per city and they unlocked together with them. Quote
Furyo Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Well you have one per island, sometimes two, and they get unlocked with the story going forward. You never purchase them. Quote

Mazy Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I gotta admit that I do miss the RPG elements and property purchasing, but on the other hand then it does make it seem somewhat more realistic in that Niko ain't trying to take over the city, its more down to earth. That doesn't change the fact that you do reach a point where money start getting kinda pointless. Anyway, on my second way through now, reached the first missions of Playboy/Elizabeta. Really impressed how different some of the chases missions have turned out a lot different than the first time I played through. Really just a matter of shooting the guys at another time, but its amazing how much that can change things Also played some more MP, had some epic fun with the co-op campaigns. Hangmans NOOSE and Bomb da base II are definitely the best, some really good possibilities for covering each other and coordinating things. Cops and Crooks is also brilliant when you're voice communicating. Had a game with some of the lads from work where I rode shotgun in a car as the VIP with 2 other guys in the car. The guy that drove the car hadn't set a waypoint and things were too hectic for him to place one on the map, so me and the other guy were directing him around the city. Some of the best co-op moments I've had in a game to date was in Cops n' Crooks Quote

Here's a tip: Call brucie for a race, go to the location and drive near the starting marker ( but not on it!) Step 1. Run up to an Infernus in the line Step 2. Shoot driver Step 3. ??? Step 4. Furyo Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Yeah I thought about doing that, but later found that I would get plenty of horsepower from the regular fast car you can get in the Algonquin dealership next to your safehouse Quote
