dux Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Pitty some of the screens are taken on terribly low resolutions with either low / medium detail. Good run down though! Quote
FrieChamp Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Yea that was great! Brings back quite some memories and makes you realize how much technology advances over time. Quote
Punky Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Lol knowing that I played doom '93(came out the same year when I was born) when I was like 5 years(1998)(My dad learnt me how to play it)This was fun to read, thanks. Altough there are a lot of FPS games I have never heard of.. Quote
Nexus Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I am the only one lucky played all the games you posted in here? you forgot classics like Soldier of fortune damn. this thread brings up alot of feelings.. "MMMMMONSTERKILL." Quote
D3ads Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Good thread, but missing a load of titles, ie: Blake Stone Kingpin Soldier Of Fortune Shadow Warrior Blood Shogo: Mobile Armour Division No One Lives Forever Requiem: Avenging Angel Clive Barker's Undying System Shock 2/Rainbow Six aren't FPS's either :/ Quote
-HP- Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 Good thread, but missing a load of titles, ie: Blake Stone Kingpin Soldier Of Fortune Shadow Warrior Blood Shogo: Mobile Armour Division No One Lives Forever Requiem: Avenging Angel Clive Barker's Undying I tottally agree buddy, gonna edit the thread soon! System Shock 2/Rainbow Six aren't FPS's either :/ Well, Of course SS2 is a FPS, It's a FPS/RPG. And rainbow six is a shoother nevertheless! Quote
FrieChamp Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I think it's cool they added Turok, but that's gotta be the dullest screenshot you can find Quote
R_Yell Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Great games there, the original SW: Jedi Knight I think was worth too, it had many original elements. I enjoyed it a lot, even without being a SW fan. Quote
Thrik Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Haha, awesome. Weirdly kind of nostalgic seeing some of that. Pity some of the screenshots were really bad though, as already pointed out. I'm also a bit disappointed they didn't show 3D Monster Maze, which clearly should have been the real #1 of the list even if technically not a shooter. Highlights the extreme divide in technology better. Quote
-HP- Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 Ok, added new screens/games and edited some of the low res ones. Quote
Alf-Life Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 OMG, I remember Blake Stone!! That was awesome, the enemies talked! Didn't they? :s That was awesome! Although wasn't Allied Assault 2001? And Far Cry, like, March 2004? (Also, Turok came earlier in the year than GoldenEye, I think Turok was like March and GoldenEye August (November in Europe)). I missed Metroid Prime; I think if you have an FPS-RPG there like Deus Ex, including the 'FPA[dventure]' wouldn't be bad. I also missed lesser known games like SWAT 3 that I personally loved. Would be awesome to see a 'every FPS(FPS-RPG/FPA) ever released, by year'. But that would take quite some time/determination. Would be great to keep this thread active, and add bullet-points to the things each game added to the genre. Quote
-HP- Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 Ah, good you mentioned Swat3, what a great game! It was a gem in it's year! Quote
