Sentura
you've probably tried one or two of these in your lifetime as a minimum if you are or have been a hardcore gamer. games that awoke your contempt for humanity once or twice. or that might just be me. anyway, this thread is about the most frustrating, annoying games ever. i decided to make this thread because i am fed up with lousy games and i think others deserve a warning before embarking on a journey to a gamer's hell. throw in quick arguments if you want to, but just be sure to list these games as you will do the world a huge favor. NOTE: try to avoid discussing what others think of any of the games, just put your suggestions down. personal "favorites" (in no particular order) rick dangerous (500 screens, about 1000 traps that are unavoidable unless you've seen it before, 5 lives no continues) wario - master of disguise (inaccurate stylus controls, awkwardly positioned buttons, insanely annoying bosses and only limited save features) skate. (extremely annoying challenges at points, few annoying "features" that are placed where they shouldnt be, and missing where they should, controls could be more accurate) heavenly sword (imagine god of war without jumping or platforming, and instead filled to the brim with annoying battles, annoying bosses and a switch character that has NO MELEE WHATSOEVER AND YOU CANT TAKE AIM WITH A CROSSBOW CLOSE QUARTERS) castlevania 2: simons quest (just... dont play it) start posting, i know there's a million of these out there
Zyn
Rygar (NES) - Probably has the most frustrating and monotone boss-battles I've encountered in a platformer. Once you start bashing on the boss's, you will never see your loved ones again (until your thumbs break). The boss's does the exact same attack at the exact same intervals, and with a wee bit of training you can time its attacks and kill it without a problem .. oh wait, your fingers break before it dies, since it takes so much hits it is out of this world. And this was just the first boss... RC Pro AM (NES) - Dandy little racing-game with RC-cars. It's sort of enjoyable ... until ... the brown opponent car suddenly gets a massive speedboost and does a whole lap before you even have made it halfway. And keeps going like that and you lose hard. The only way you can reset it is by disabling the opponent for a short moment (rocket, oilslick, invincibility, etc). Star Wars (NES) - No, just no. Why am I forced to play through a retarded cave-level at the beginning of the game, where there are spikes and acid, and you die horribly by this! When I was a kid and got this game, I couldn't get passed this very first level until a miracle happened, but already by then I have taken out the cartrigde and smashed a hole in it due to frustration overflow. Suprisingly, the force was strong in this one and it still worked. After going through the entire book of cursewords, I got to the level where you drive the Millenium Failcon through an asteroid-field. Here, I launched my entire supply of F-bombs. In the movie, the field was just a fart in space against the spaceship, but in the game it's vicious armor-eating asteroids that you have time 100% to avoid, which is near impossible after you've been pumped up with anger from the previous 100 tries. Red Steel (Wii) - 10 fps , 'nuff said. To be continued...

teeluu
EA's NHL games: You shoot the puck 50 times and score ones or twice, opponent shoots 10 times and scores 5 goals, dunno if it's just me tho. NFS Underground: Drive a perfect race, crash at the last corner and finish last.

Ginger Lord
Wave Race 64 and the GC one. Most unforgiving racing game ever. Hitting a bit of weed in the ocean could send you from 1st to 8th and lose the championship in under a second.
D3ads
- Mafia's racing mission before the patch was released, fucking solid.. took me an hour to complete it, the later docks mission is hard as well due to lack of saves. - Many of GTA3's timed missions were extremely annoying because of the tight limits. - The Thing ; By God, that game made me go nuts on many occasions, due to the lack of save points and rediculous respawning enemies that did lots of damage. Aliens Vs Predator (without the patch) ; You couldn't save until you got through the whole level which was really hard because enemies constantly repspawned, especially frustrating with aliens appearing from seemingly nowhere when you've got about 20% health. Project IGI - Again, you couldn't save until you got to the end of a mission, huge non-linear bases surrounded by mountainess terrain populated with many guards and security cameras. If you managed to raise the alarm, about 20 extra heavily armed soldiers spawned making completion next to impossible. I'll be honest with you, the game was so damn hard I couldn't even finish the final level, always got to the boss fight only to be sniped at by randomly spawning soldiers. Probably the hardest game you'll (n)ever play.
Zeta
Shadow of the Beast was known to be one of the hardest games. Oh god that game was horrid / trippy. My dad bought the cartridge abroad and thusly found it would not work on my european megadrive. He literally hacksawed off the additional bits of plastic on the cartridge that prevented the game from fitting in the cart slot, after playing, i really wish he hadn't. Erratic
Wave Race 64 That's a good one. I remember cursing a lot on those ring challenges. Ninja Gaiden - probably the most recent to induce those frustratingly difficult moments. Still a great game though. God Hand - as well but to a lesser degree. It's a little more forgiving than Ninja Gaiden. Call of Duty - pretty much this whole series. I really like these games but you go through so many highs and lows it's ridiculous. One minute you're doing something really bad ass and exciting and the next you're dying for no apparent reason over and over. Especially 4. The end of the Chernobyl mission by the ferris wheel with the dogs and mass of enemies. Kill me. I had to hide in one of those small booths to wait out the timer, occasionally shooting a dog that found me in between the infinite grenade spam from the AI. If it wasn't for such a good ending I would have been a lot more down on the SP campaign. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - the old NES game was just retarded. Played it constantly as a kid. I find most western games to be push overs for the most part. Usually when they are frustrating it's just from bad design.

hessi
i recently played "Conker" on xbox and what brought my piss to a boil was the racing scene. i had to play it like for 3 hours to beat it. it's not that i suck at games. people could probably call me a hardcore gamer but this level was so bad. once you fuck up you are done for. no way of getting the lead back. additionally there were heavy player clipping bugs in the level so you have to jump on the right places. for bad games i would refer to AVGN usually i deleted the bad games so i don't remember all of them. i kind of hated "Loom". I was so excited to see a Lucas Arts adventure and i thought "its lucas arts, you cant go wrong with that" but yes, you can! worst interaction i have ever seen in any adventure game. why do people have to remember tones to do certain stuff. this reminds me of Leisure Suite Larry 7. You had to enter specific words to finish the game. But there were no clues on which words you could enter. there was a context menu but you could always enter your own statements so WTF: i know 1000000s of words. which one should i enter? that was a bad game (even the jokes were funny)
Synthesizer
MOH: Pacific Assault. I don't know why they would put a medic in the game when you only get one heal per level, but your squadmates get infinite heals Also, the plane flying sequence was so horribly hard. It had the worst controls ever, the only way I beat it was to put the mouse speed up to max and spin around in extremely tight circles.
