Urban Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 edit: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/WABC_100304_middleschoolteacher.html WTF!~ WTF indeed. That's royally fucked up. ty
The Postman Posted October 4, 2004 Author Report Posted October 4, 2004 Oh Faux News, is there anything you won't skew? Turns out all that noise about Kerry proclaiming himself a "metrosexual" was a bunch of made up BS, oops. Looks like CBS has company.
Urban Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 lol.. yeah.. who trusts news sources these days anyways?... but honestly... did u see the pic of kerry in the makeup.. it was still funny... and that was a AP photo
The Postman Posted October 4, 2004 Author Report Posted October 4, 2004 Meh, they all get dolled up for photo ops, it's pretty standard.
The Postman Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 not nixon.. i think it was. That's because Nixon was a sexy beast.
Urban Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 gore is a robot.. and nixon had a cool voice http://www.urban.pfmnf.com/nixon_not_crook.wav http://www.urban.pfmnf.com/nixon_burn_tapes.wav almost time for cheney/edwards... i got a plan for cheney, this should work.. cheney could pipe in the sound of an ambulance at the push of a button. that should send edwards skipping from the room. of course.. this could backfire.. they might think the ambulance coming for cheneys like.. 4th or 5th or 6th heart attack (i think we lost count)
von*ferret Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 please, cheney is my pimp. I love that guy.
The Postman Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 Talking it over with my pinko commie cohorts last night we figured that Cheney could very well lose these debates. Now, before you swallow your tongue in an effort to suck in more air for a volumous bellow, hear me out. 1. Cheney isn't liked by a good portion of the population. He's seen as sneaky, and kind of a weasel. Deny it if you will, but hey, the country is split 50%-50%, so it has merit. 2. Cheney might come off with too many personal attacks, making him seem too volatile, while I'm certain Edwards will remain a smiling golden-boy during the entire thing. That contrast will really make things interesting, because Cheney, in the past, has been pretty volatile with the public, and in the media. 3. Edwards is a defense trial lawyer. A good one at that. Prattle on with Republican party rhetoric all you want about "hurr hurr ambulance chaser, lmao!~~~" but in all seriousness, it means he's pretty quick on his feet. If he remains positive and keeps a calm, cool demeanor he could very well come out on top. 4. Halliburton. I know Urban already mentioned that they got a no-bid contract under Clinton, but well, I looked into it a bit more, and so did a few other companies, and never as much as today with Halliburton leading our country's no-bid hires at the #1 spot. Cheney received a $173,000 gift from them as well. If this gets into the debates at all it will hurt Cheney's credibility amongst the viewers. Even having to explain it makes him look less than honest. 5. Coming off the wave of success from Kerry/Bush's debate last week, Edwards already has a promising start. If he can keep that momentum, then he can pull it off. However, things could go bad for Edwards. He's already seen as the weaker VP out of the partisan duos - for reasons of his lack of experience. Cheney has no lack of debate and public speaking skills, like the president, if Cheney can keep it toned down and not go after Edwards in an overtly personal sense or come off too mean, he could very well bury Edwards. Cheney could also frequently cite Edward's lack of experience. Even if Edwards keeps explaining it away, it will be a nasty after taste in the mouths of viewers. My pre-debate guess? A victory for Edwards, he'll be on the defense going in, but given his profession, he'll be in his element.
Fletch Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I see this debate closely mirroring the first 92 debate between George Bush and Bill Clinton. People came in saying that Bush was the more experienced debater and politicin, while Clinton was the inexperienced southerner. As it turns out, Bush looked old and out of touch while Clinton came off looking youthful and energetic. Nobody ended up remembering their policy stances because all of that was heavily scripted and neither of them went too far off the page. It was all about the visual presentation style. Cheney's only hope is to keep himself restrained and avoid making faces like Bush did last week. As long as Edward stays close to his debate prep, smiles a lot, and keeps his southern accent at an appropriate level, he'll come off as the victor.
kleinluka Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 what date/time (Eastern timezone) will the 2nd debate be on? and what channel? D:
von*ferret Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Fletch you bring up good points. The reason I dont think halliburton is a big deal is this. Name one other company that could handle the tasks Halliburton had to achieve. I heard something that halliburton was also the only company that had a built in security thing or soemthing. Long time ago that i heard that but what ever. I 2nd' klein's quesiton.
The Postman Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 I assume it's on at 8pm CST/9pm EST on all the major networks (I watch it on PBS because it's largely commercial free)
