FrieChamp
On a more serious note - I think this looks really good. This thread definitely deserves more feedback, what's up people?

Nexus
I had a quick run on the map and i have some ideas for you if you want to try to improve your map. the better, the better. alright, this is how i see your map more improved, better detailed and looking overall more museum-like lol. soo.. take a look and think about this.. i don't know if you will like this or not, but this can change your map. and do not forget to add more sounds for the map.. some more atmosphere. this is not my advice, it is just what I had done if i had this map. that was all that i could think of. I did not found any vital bugs. In addition to that, the playability was great and smooth and i did not found anything strange. It ran smooth in all areas, goodjob. this is what you could do: * make both toilets acessable near the cafeterea area * make shadows casting from window (this can be done If you use tools/toolsblocklight texture and apply it on your window.. * change the ambience lighting to (174 198 202 100) if you want * add some kind of information centre booth on the employers near the main museum entrance. like this * perhaps add some more plants and flowers inside the museum rooms * try to add a fountain with flowers in some free area in the museum * perhaps a small little bookshelf with books somewhere in the museum rooms? ⌐■_■
i agree with Frie but unfortunatly i dont have much time. i ran through it for a few moments and i think the map is very true to the original. thats good, but it could suffer a little more detail imo. maybe litterbins, candypapers, vouchers etc. also, i dont think the way some of the models are hanged dont make much sense. i mean, two threads for an enormous whale? and 1 for that flying dinothingy? but then again, im not really bothered with it (it would be fun if they were prop_physics_multiplayers but that depends on your vision on network overhead). furthermore, some of the lighting could be a little more atmospheric. the outdoor strikes me as too bright. and maybe you could add flying particles of dust near the ceiling and in some of the lightbeams comming through the windows (and maybe even in the vents?). last but not least, make the lightmapscale smaller at the brushes where you have lightspots and light falling in at the windows. but id thaught you maybe wanted to do that later with compiletimes in mind. thats my 2 cents. i really think its amazing what youre doing and i hope you have lots of fun doing this!! Theropod-X
nexus, killertomato, et al...just a quick reply to say thanks for the suggestions. it's hard as an artist to take criticism but almost everybody's been positive so far and i fully agree with most all of the suggestions. re: lightmaps (etc) - yes, this beta was just a run-of-the-mill compile. I was getting frustrated working on this thing since last jan (read: 12 mos ago) and not releasing anything. I'm surprised i've not had bigger goofs (but there are some). I'm no expert, but I'll try to get the lightmaps and other polish items under control by final release. Thanks again, all!
Minos
Looks fantastic, but why aren't those benches casting any shadows?
