I'm going to try to develope this style a LOT before i take a go at a serious classic NS map. But anyway... yeah. i just thought i might post it here for comments and crits. Quote

Minos Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 it looks nice indeed, but this fucking strong gamma make it look sorta unpleasant IMO. With this intensity of shadow you can barely use textures in your favor, since they will be very "hidden" in the shadows. And the colors dont fit each other, I mean, red x yellow looks good, but yellow x white looks gay. Maybe its just me, but this is my opinion Quote

Belgarion Posted September 30, 2004 Author Report Posted September 30, 2004 Looks neat, almost doom 3 ish, doesn't really look like a new style though. mm.. it's definetly a new style for me at least. kind of a mix between kenbanks and blueman, but i sort of mapped similarly to blueman anyway. just taking a few extra tips from ns_nothing. i'm really not sure why you think adding white to the mix makes it look gay. White is very important i think. If a map is completely lacking white it feels... i dunno. not ugly, but it's as if you don't get a break. i like white. i did try adding a bounce of 1 and.. well, it feels better and worse. It's lighter, which is good for gameplay, but it doesn't have quite the same feel. and not nearly so much contrast (i liked the contrast) but as i said, trying to experiment with, what is for me, a new style. Minos Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 white is cool indeed but it just doesnt fit well with orange. Moreover you also have some red lights on the same part, this is what makes it feel weird imo, the mix of 3 diff colors, not the white itself Quote
EviLTaxi Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 uhm...I like this alot! the gamma is just cool and the mix of the 3 different colors does fit imo! but I fear player models will look out of place. imagine a player running down that area flshing up every time he hits a lit area! especially at the transition from bright to dark (or dark-bríght) it may look weird!
