Avego Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 I'm another one of Gabe's closet whores so I'll have to say overall... lol rofl rofl. Valve. Quote
dux Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Old looking glass / irrational for the thief's and system shocks and valve for everything since. Quote
WitchKing Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Rockstar North. They always deliver better than best. Quote
Taylor Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Valve are definitely the best company by far for first person shooters, but I'm not quite as excitable about them as you guys. I’m going to make my #1 Capcom (assuming we can merge all their studios) - An obscene amount of stuff has their name on it, and I can only think of a few that weren’t remarkable. FrieChamp Posted January 6, 2008 Author Report Posted January 6, 2008 I am surprised nobody has said "Nintendo" yet Quote
Defrag Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Going by the amount of their games I've played in the last ~8 years, Valve. Quote
Sentura Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 valve, with sony santa monica coming close second; although the designer behind god of war has moved onto his own company called eat sleep play. it shall be interesting if those games come anywhere close to the standard of god of war. Avego Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Old looking glass / irrational for the thief's and system shocks and valve for everything since. Actually I have to agree there, LGS were brilliant for delivering such profound and enjoyable, yet unique experiences. Its a shame the cocked up. Quote
Zacker Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Blizzard. Be it RTS, Hack&Slash or MMORPG they have simply always delivered extremely well made, polished and first of all addictive games. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Introversion Software. Hands down. Quote
zaphod Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Been thinking about it a little bit more, here are some of the reasons I say Valve: - Forward thinking. They believe in PC games, and they didn't like having to rely on publishers to distribute their games, so they create Steam. - Utopian development environment. By all accounts, the design and development process on Valve games using small cabals is very creative and liberating, and sounds closest to the way games should be developed ideally. - Thinking outside the box. Instead of just following the commercial trends of other successful games, Valve finds a vision of a game they want to go after, and find the brains from outside or inside the industry to get it done. - They are champions of indie developers. Valve has taken the best indie/amature/student developers all throughout it's history. Team Fortress, CS, DoD, Portal, and many more less publicized cases. - They don't give a fuck. They do whatever they think is right regardless of what anybody not inside their circle thinks. Their number one priority seems to be to make the cool shit they want, and to do whatever it takes to ensure that they can. Quote
e-freak Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 - Forward thinking. No wonder they're heraldic motto is "With eyes open turn forward" Quote
Deh0lise Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Blizzard; SC2, WC3, DIABLO, WOW... all top hits and lovely. Black Isle as someone said is also nice and so is Valve (but not as good as Blizzard imo) Quote
