FrieChamp
Ok, so my friend dragged me to the movies to watch "Alien vs Predator 2" or "Alien vs Predator Requiem" as it is called outside of Germany I believe (don't ask me why they change the name, I guess movie studios believe it isn't just enough to dub the movies here - they think we are so retarded they have to simplify the movie titles as well). I had really low expectations, it got a 6.0 on IMDB, which is not abysmal, but not great either. I might add I watched the first AVP on DVD and that wasn't very good either. I'm a big fan of the Alien movies and the original Predator movie was pretty cool too. Also the only review on IMDB said it was worth watching if you like the creatures so I thought what the hell... My buddy didn't enjoy the movie at all (he obviously expected more) and while I got some giggles out of it ("Daddy, what's wrong with you?" - "UAARRRGHH!!" or "There is no monster outside your window....AAARGRGRH!!") I didn't particularly think it was amazing either. I guess it was entertaining, but a couple of things struck me as odd. I'm no Alien expert but I've watched all movies, some of them multiple times, and AVP2 brought up a few questions. Maybe some of you have watched the movie and can answer them. I might have missed something but according to my memory and images on the internets the Alien queen from "Aliens" looked something like this: The queen in AVP2 looked like this though: Like an Alien-Predator hybrid. Just because it hatched from the inside of a predator at the beginning of the movie? And why could it directly insert baby Aliens into a human woman, isn't it supposed to lay eggs first from which the facehuggers hatch? Is there actually some background behind this, or was that just another lame method to speed up the incubation time? The whole movie was like fast-forward, at least what the development of the Aliens was concerned... Is there some connection between the end of the first AVP movie and the 2nd one, at least what the predators are concerned? Why did just one Predator fly to Earth and then tried to erase any evidence about the Aliens with that blue acid? Does anyone have a suspicion what the ending could mean (in regards to the left over predator weapon and "It isn't meant for this world anyway")? Pericolos0
aliens take on properties from their hosts, thats why aliens born from human hosts look sortoff humanoid, same thing with the predator alien.
-HP-
I saw this movie yesterday... my expectations were ZERO, when I walked into the cinema! I saw AvP1 on the cinema when it came out, and the movie definitely sucked! I mean, yeah, It is entertaining and all, but it's just they could have done so much more with the plot, and they basically ruined it all, imho! After watching AvP2, I can say it was way better than I was expecting, the beggining of the movie is a bit boring, but as the movie progresses there's lot's of action and specialFX. One little thing I really hated was the close-ups, most of the time, when there was fights between predator/aliens, they were always filming they're face, It gets annoying! Anyways, It's an overall good movie, but not nearly as good as Alien and Predator was in they're good old times, I miss Ripley! The ending was ok, it leaves place to a possible sequel as well, and they will surely make it, if this movie sells well.
Skjalg
i think they are called predalien, they are slower but is a lot tougher than the normal aliens. Havent you played AVP2 (the game) ? Its one of the best single player experiences I've had. I played it through again last summer and it still managed to scare me.
FrieChamp
I'm not sure which AVP I played, either the first or second one. I think the first the one. It was definitely an amazing game, but I got stuck somewhere and quit playing.. Thanks for the replies, I guess that makes sense. It's just weird I've never heard of this before, maybe because in the Alien movies the Aliens just hatch from humans (or dogs). Still a lot more confusing stuff in the movie
D3ads
Damn, I was looking forward to this, the other one was dogshit but from the trailers I was hoping this would be decent
-HP-
I loved the original Alien VS Predator game... It was one of the first games when I first got my own PC, I remember I closed the windows down, turned up the volume... and damn, it was one fucking scary game, really this game scared the shit outta me!! AvP2 was OK, but not nearly as scary as the first one, because the environments we're way brighter, I loved the claustrophobic and dark environments of AvP1! EDIT : AHAH! I remember I used to say "wow, such a beautiful game!"
