FrieChamp Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Hey guys, finally some fresh corporate talk! This christmas holiday thing was getting boring anyway... Midway CEO David Zucker has a plan, one that he hopes will guide the video game publisher and developer to its first annual profit since 1999. The key lies with producing "fewer, bigger, better" games, he told the Chicago Tribune. Other initiatives include an emphasis on license-driven titles based on movies and more active involvement from newly-elected Midway chairwoman Shari Redstone, daughter of majority shareholder and Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50538 Fewer, bigger (more expensive) titles, if possible based on licenses. Does anybody else see a pattern here? Quote
Taylor Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 The best thing in that quote is the word ‘initiatives,’ when it slots directly into a trend that has been going on for years, and one that’s going to have a rather disastrous finale. Bigger budgets, teams and development times are going to make the industry eat itself. Quote
