yes but his geometry is imo bad geometry :)

Avoid classical spheres like that at all costs!!! Using a smoothed cube gives you the exact same shape while also being easier to unwrap, and with all polygons being about thesame size (a good rule!)

And its also easier to take it in a sculpting package later on because it subdivides so well =)

here is my magical way of modelling and unwrapping a sphere

This also makes it easy to texture it in such a way that there are no seams visible at all! Which clever texture artist can tell me how, you'll win my prize!
