p2xelgen Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 My first model_texture: I'm going to use this thread so you guys/girls can take the piss out of my piss-poor 2d art, or if I'm lucky I might get a back-slap and tips and advice. First image: I created a simple model and then render out a AO map and just mess with a few ideas in CS... PLZ give feedback... Quote
static07 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 what is it? looks like a mechanical insect leg or something with a hazard symbol on it Quote

p2xelgen Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 looks like rubber johnny, what is it? I guess you have a small one, at best... LoL Not sure really, just knocked up shitty little model. UV mapped it and then did an AO, before heading into CS to try and create a texture UV... Edit: A quick render... Quote
Buddy Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Maybe try something that actually is something? Practising on this won't give too much i think. Quote

e-freak Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 look for "eninnew" (that's my default) an look for "custom brushes photoshop grundge" The eninnew was done by some guy from the modding szene and has everything from paper overlay, scratches and plastic to hakenkreuzes, weapon brands and tree lines. You can't really do any wrong with them. Quote
D3ads Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Looks like a cable to me... Nice job anyhow. Quote
p2xelgen Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks for tha e-freakt... I need some help... I'm trying to do the Hard surface texture tut but I'm not sure if I'm plainting scratches on right.: Image: I'm using a brush with 1/2pixels around where I want the scratches, I'm using screen and opacity 76%. I'm also using Gaussain Blur to take the edge off ??? Quote

Scratches on metal are very suprificial, I prefer to use the dodge tool, 1px, 100% hardness within a selection 2 pixels width. and work it out like this: Quote
Rick_D Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 dodge/burn are not too great use layers with appropriate colours for high/low colours. gives you much more control to go and change something later. Quote
