Jselen1
Hey all, So, i'm having a difficult computer issue that i'm hoping someone can provide some insight into. I'll start from the beginning... Everything was working fine (Hammer, Maya, etc) until I got rid of my trial versions of adobe photoshop and illustrator CS3. After the uninstallation was finished, I attempted to open one of my maps in hammer, and a couple error messages came up that said I was missing one or more files necessary to run the editor. So I completely delted and reinstalled steam and all of it's components. The error messages went away, but every time I try to manipulate the 3d wireframe, the program freezes and closes. I have also noticed that since this, when I attempt to run Maya, the program will open but the main manipulation screen will show nothing but the imprint of my desktop wallpaper. I am pretty sure I must have deleted some common component that's screwing with everything, but I have no idea what it would be. I tried reinstalling both of the adobe programs, but it did not fix the issue. I would appreciate any help with this problem. thank you. ⌐■_■
have your tried reinstalling your videocards drivers and directX? plus.. this is more of an engine discussion imo.
Jselen1
I just reinstalled both my graphics drivers AND directX, and the problem continues. However, it seems that now I cannot even open Source SDK. The window pops up that says "Preparing to open Source SDK", but it goes away after about 15 seconds and nothing happens. dux
Could be a conflict of old files. Give this a run it's a great little app. Get it to clean your system and registry of crap. It may not be the solution, but it's worth a go. http://www.ccleaner.com/download The site is a bit slow atm so give it a moment.
Jselen1
thanks dux, I already have CCleaner, but I didn't think to run it. Anyways, I ran it, and it turned out not to be the solution. thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.

Jselen1
So, the solution to my hammer problems was embarassingly simple. I guess since the orange box was released, Hammer's default is to run with that default setting All I had to do was go into advanced options and type "-engine ep1", and everything started working again. This still hasn't solved my Maya issues... but hey, it's a start. thanks to everyone for their input.
