Rick_D Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 10/10 in the swedish magasine GameReactor.. How this be possible? =) someone gave bioshock 100% / 10/10 so yeah, seems like bioshock and crysis are both the best game ever, utterly perfect in every way. Scores are pretty retarded anyway, who gives 'so-and-so' the right to judge whether X is better than Y in terms of Z. I can see the point of them but they are still dumb. Quote
Thrik Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Yes, I think scores would be much better if they learnt from the film industry and just restricted it to four stars, which are relative. So if a game gets four stars that just means 'excellent', three means 'good', 'etc'. The problem with the current shitty system that most sites/magazines use (percentages and stuff) is it introduces the element of one game being 2% better than another. How the hell do you justify a 2% difference in words? I bet even the reviewers themselves couldn't say why Crysis deserves 96% and BioShock only 95% (false examples). Crazy. Quote
jaboo224 Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Just opened the game and stuck it in my computer, installing now. :] i hope my 8800GTX and Q660 proc can handle this Quote

D3ads Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 "This is a game that feels supremely engineered, like a precision machine, or a German automobile. It makes Half-Life 2 seem old and frail, but by the same token it does nothing to diminish the imaginative achievements of that series." 9/10 For the love of Satan, why must everything be compared to Half-Life 2 all the time? A game which is highly overrated in the first place... ...whereas Crysis looks fucking amazing and it would seem it plays it too. This is one of those games where graphics and technology become more important than gameplay. My question now is how the Hell is anyone going to top that? Not even Alan Wake is as complex and detailed! Quote
Thrik Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Technologically this game is amazing, and I also love the gameplay, but there's no way I'd say it tops Half-Life 2. I can't let my excitement go that far. I think it's more a case of you underrating it than the game being overrated, D3. Quote
Psyshokiller Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 A friend send me that link today: (german) http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/inhalt/18/0,3672,7124722,00.html It's not a review but I was quite suprised about the positive things they say about Crysis and the "killer games debate". Usually ZDF are the first to say games are bad. It's good to know that some of the news are getting more objective slowly. Quote
Taylor Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 From what I hear the experience of Crysis is so magical and amazing it’s comparable to a unicorn pissing a rainbow into a pot of gold. However, until I upgrade my computer I’m trying my hardest to avoid it because one game isn’t worth that kind of money. And I’m not going to appreciate any kind of irony when I now tell D3adlode to stop convincing himself Half-Life 2 is rubbish, and just upgrade to play it properly. Though to be honest, I don’t like the way the FPS genre is going. The parts of an FPS I like are the ones that make up the acronym. Less emphasis on vehicles, plots, squads, physics and your open, believable, living-breathing worlds – and more emphasis on me running around in the open, circle strafing monsters and blowing their faces off with a shotgun. 10/10 in the swedish magasine GameReactor.. How this be possible? =) Well, Halo 3 had fourteen 100% reviews last I checked. Quote
D3ads Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 I don't think HL2 is rubbish, just overrated.. there's a difference. Quote
Sentura Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 then why is it overrated? i wouldnt say that crysis tops half life 2 either honestly, because half life 2 is made by arguably the best designers in the industry; without going into details, it is pretty much awesome in its immersion. put it differently, there's a reason why half life 2 got 96 metascore whereas crysis only got 93. still, i'd go so far as to say that crysis is the second best choice after half life 2 Quote
Thrik Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 It's not overrated. It deserves all the praise it gets. Did you actually play HL2 D3? Quote
dux Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 w00p my copy is here. Time to rock. Quote
FrieChamp Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Yay, the release party was great! Crytek rented Sven Väth's Cocoon Club, the venue and Crysis decoration was amazing and drinks/food were free of course. So basically everybody got really trashed and we had a good time All guests got the game as a take-away present which was very cool as well, so the trip already paid off for Mr Hessi Hessi, freakadelle, Hanno (who made most of the characters in Crysis) and me (from left to right). As you can see we are keepin' it real MapCore style. Bonus picture from my framed copy: I might post a few more pictures of the club and guests the next days. BTW, trivia question for the people who own the game: What is the level inside the Alien ship called? Quote

Furyo Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Sounds like it was a blast, and that framed copy is something to be proud of ! Quote
