skdr Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Yes. And it comes with the editor, too! Good torrent: http://www.speltorrents.se/details.php?id=693 New nvidia beta drivers for Crysis too: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/betadriv ... lang=en-us Quote
Lee3dee Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 being a mapper, I skipped the demo and went straight for the editor while trying it at work. The editor is freaking amazing, i figured out the terrain stuff, but now working on placing roads, and buildings. the drop in and out of the game in the editor is sweet! You can even play the single player level sunny if running it from the editor. Its time for a new video card for me! 6800 at home just doesn't cut it anymore. Quote
Mazy Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Hah, think I'll wait till Monday and try it at work, no point in even trying it here. Quote
ReFlex Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 EA link: http://na.llnet.cdn.ea.com/u/demos/Crysis_SP_Demo.exe Quote
Mazy Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Just played it a bit, was actually able to crank it up to High in everything apart from textures and shaders, and it actually runs pretty good (in 1024x768). Looks pretty good too, although the lighting looks absolutely shite at times. Runs at about 20fps though, but its fine Anyway, reached the part where the sun has risen and you got these different camps you go through (Or rather, can go through). AI is really awesome, love when you cloak and they start searching the areas for you, poor bastards. Suit enhanced throwing of birds = unique selling point btw Quote
skdr Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 This game really begs to be played on high-detail settings. I didnt enjoy playing it on low-medium at all Looks like Far Cry all over again. Quote
FrieChamp Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Edit: Crymod.com - Crytek's modding portal has been re-launched in conjunction with the Demo and Editor release too by the way. Quote
R_Yell Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 I feel like the game is too good to play it in medium-low settings. I don't know if I'm going to purchase it just for that reason. I started playing in medium settings, then changed to high and was hard to go back again, looked much better but framerate was crap. Combat reminds a lot to Far Cry, yes, but much more realistic now. I hope the rest of the game has other innovative elements than the suit. The engine and tools look great for those looking for new modding experiences. That's not my case, my gold age with Source starts now, just when I learned the damned engine and can code, map, model, even animate a bit. Quote
Psyshokiller Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Awesome demo, the combat felt really intense and I had so much fun ramming jeeps into every house I could find. Gonna try the editor now, that's what I've been looking for. Quote
-HP- Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Damn, I still got the rest of the orange box to play, I think I'll wait before trying this thing out! Quote
D3ads Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Am I the only one who thinks that Far Cry still looks fantastic even now? Anyway, got no chance of playing this until my graphics card has been replaced... Quote
RD Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 with my sluggish pc farcry looked better than this crysis demo Quote
Psyshokiller Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Those Tips of the day in the editor are quite funny. Quote
clayman Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 nice, hope to god this works on my laptop :P:P Quote
