children reject the religion of their parents all the time....I've never felt handicapped because I'm circumcised

....and you know theres a procedure to put the skin back on if it really bothers you that much. so I don't see what the big deal is. if it's about choice then there are so many more important and influential things in a child's life than whether or not they have a flap of skin on their penis. why focus on that?

and as a cultural thing christians have no influence on it...which means the only motivation for a christian parents to have their child circumcised would be the health/hygiene aspects. doesn't sound that malicious to me.

As for the health/hygiene aspect, it might not be malicious but it's still uninformed ignorance that results in permanent removal of a part of the body; there is quite simply no comparison to having vaccinations, which do have genuine health benefits.

You know, they once put drills into people's heads -- including children -- based on the belief that it relieved headaches, released demons, etc. Their parents may have thought they were doing the right thing, but you know what? They weren't.

Circumcision is an archaic practice that survives simply due to misconceptions and tradition. There is no logical reason to do it beyond fitting in. Fortunately this 'fitting in' only applies to the US; you guys can chop off a part of your kids' dicks all you like.

BTW, regarding the evolution thing I'm guessing it came to be to protect the ultra-sensitive/soft head of the penis, which I'm guessing is something circumcised people can't really imagine. Would have sucked to get a branch or something cutting open the end of your dick as a caveman.

tbh i think theres less then few people who feel bad about their parents making the desicion to circumcise them at birth. why do we turn this in to such a huge problem? its tradition, precaution (regardless your opinion about it, doctors still advice circumcision) and maybe even a social standard but wtf?

I think you guys are making way to strong of a correlation between the genital mutilation of a womans clitoris (which I don't approve of) and removing a part of skin that is more or less a scientific moot point. Maybe I'm making the mistake of basing my assumptions off of what is on wikipedia but it covers both sides of the argument and theres no real conclusive evidence for or against.

I don't believe in religion anyway so I'm on the side of the opponents of circumcision in that respect; perhaps the religious people just got lucky because it turns out to be disease prevention as well. But I would never give a person shit because they circumcised their child based on medical data.

i seriously dont understand all the sudden hate against people who decide to circumcise their boys.. ffs let it go.. also, there's a thin line with being against circumcision and offending circumcised people's parents. why not respect it? if you feel like bettering the world so much, why not spend your energy on taking care of poverty? :S
