I just announced/launched a whole number of new things.

My new book: The Hows and Whys of the Games Industry - http://book.hourences.com

book2print2small.jpgbook2print3small.jpg

# Intended for amateurs who wish to ‘break into’ the games industry and who are looking for additional information. It’s also for those who are yet undecided on whether or not to pursue a career in the games industry.

# Aims to provide the reader with a honest and objective discourse about the games industry, its pros and cons, and why one would, or would not, want to be active within this industry.

# Interviews with over twenty industry professionals on how they got in, what they like, and what they dislike about the games industry.

# Attempts to provide the reader with answers to some of the most common questions beginners have; such as how much one can expect to earn, the best way to apply to a studio, and what to expect during a job interview. The book will provide the reader with plenty of tips about what to look for when searching for a job.

# Illustrated with exclusive concept art by Romano Molenaar .

Scheduled for release around Nov-Dec

Very nice dude!

I ordered you'r previous book of Level Design, and I'll definitely order this one as well!

I love the jobs sections and I love even more the tuts section! :D I'll definitely try out UnreadEd for UT3 as soon as the full game comes out!

Thanks for contributing so much for this kick ass community man! ;)

Btw, Is it correct calling it a "community" if there's no interactivity with it's users? Like for instance, a forum?

That sucks and shouldnt happen. Youre the first one who has that problem as far as I am aware off. It might been a one off bad copy.

Thanks for the comments: )

And yeah its a community site, even without user interaction. Everything on the site is meant for the community so...

A UE3 sound tutorial next month I hope, and after that I hope to finally get into real level design again with UT3 :)

Oh certainly. I am still an independent author but I try hard to make it as good as I can. Therefore the book has been nearly entirely rewritten by a native English speaking person, proofreaded four times by four different people, and because it's a black and white print it will also be a lot cheaper, thus I have a lot more flexibility regarding the lay out.

Oh and I plan for a LD v2 in a year or two years time.

Thanks for the comments:)
