Pericolos0 Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 A lot better? Can it get "a lot better" than that? Maybe you were sarcastic but if not, yes it can and you if anyone should know that I wasn't sarcastic, those screenshots look amazing! Excellent artwork, especially on the 360! what exactly is amazing about the artwork? It's just boring bland tiling textures on pretty bland standard geometry. It's the lighting and athmosphere that makes it look pretty ok. But it can be ALOT better! I mean insurgency looks way better than this imo. Quote

Excellent artwork, especially on the 360! a very good point is raised there - it may not have uber-bloom (which obviously makes a next gen game...), but you're using very limited resources on a 360, whether the engine they are using (anyone know what it is?) streams content or not I don't know, but you've hardly got a lot of texture memory to spend, then think about all the characters, the vehicles etc etc, it soon goes on a 360. Ep2 is a PC game with tweaks for the PC (if you've got the memory to run it) and it's silly to expect a PC game to look like a console game and vice versa. Quote

INS is also built for the PC and horribly optimised in areas, not to mention INS is an MP game with small maps. Quote

I would like to see it ingame before I make my final call, the lighting definitely also has a role in this, but despite INS looking great already, this looks better to me. It might be the particles that INS is lacking mostly, or the textures that look very sharp and detailed. Maybe higher res? I think the characters and 1st person weapons look superior as well. Again we are comparing a retail product with a MOD here, but I wouldn't say INS looks better. Quote
MrH2o Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 [HP]: I noticed that too. Anyway, I think your screenshots look shit hot h2o, dunno what you're complaining about! It looks ok, but i think COD2 looked better (the ones i remembered) The ground is flat with no shadows from the bodies (4th pic) and well the lighting isn't that good, still MP beta on xbox 360 is ace and I will get this game no matter what, I just wonder if I shall go for PC or 360 version, (prolly 360 cause It's funnier with MP there I think, still PC version is cheaper) Quote
Sudano Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I thought it was really fun, and you don't need a super computer to play it. I can play all maxed on 1280x1024 with pretty much perfect framerate, at a few times it dropped, but I can lower in the future if needed. Very fun I think! I will be buying full. Quote
Sa74n Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 i agree those screenshots look a bit meh but then again some of the videos i saw looked absolutely incredible. too bad my machine cant run the demo (and neither the full game ) Quote
VoodooBenshee Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 shit, i love it, i love it i love it i love it. i looks awesome and plays like cod2. i love that shit f***ing atmosphere of war that cod makes so cool Quote
^Slick Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Judging by the screenshots, there seems to shadows for hardly anything except for main geometry. Quote
Skjalg Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 to be honest, its not fair to compare ins to cod.. The setting ins is in really looks good with bloom. (Assassins creed has done this excellently too). For beeing a gritty game, it looks super awesome. Quote
CompoSITe Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Looks like the spec and model shadows have been turned off on your comp Mr.h20. Thats why I tend to like the 360 more, you have base specs that let you present the game looking the same on every 360. I am also not a huge fan of Bog A (maybe I have played it too much, lol). I think the rest of the game is actual much better imo. Good to hear all the input. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 It was pretty cool. I love how you reload. The backgrounds are god awful in the demo, they looked like the crappy q4 ones. Quote
Thrik Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Hahaha, I still remember the first time I played Quake 4 and almost laughed out loud at the blatantly painted backgrounds. I mean it's all well and good having painted backgrounds, but not when stuff that's meant to move like smoke and stuff is in them. Quote
Pongles Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 It might be the particles that INS is lacking mostly we had awesome particles! ... but I had to tone them down quite a bit because we needed a quick FPS fix for 1.1. Quote

Yeah I thought that was lame too, like we walked into a time warp or something, it's lazy since it's obvious that Doom 3 can support 3D skyboxes since the smoke and planes that fly over are part of the sky animation.
