Method Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Got a chance to check it out. Epic gets A+ for presentation, but once you look at some places they look rather sloppy. When games are very good, you tend to notice little things. Overall, very good. Little polish and it will be one of the best looking levels I've got to play. -Method Quote
m8nkey Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Downloaded it today and played a few rounds. I'd have to aggree with the graphical issues everyone else mentioned. Hopefully the full version gives you greater control over video settings along with the hi-res textures. I enjoyed playing it, I didn't really get into the other UT's. I'm not normally a fan of vehicals in an FPS but thought they were cool. I like the hover board but think they could have done more with the physics/control mechanics of it. Based on what I've seen I think it has a lot of potential and I'll buy the full version. Quote
Zacker Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Method I think you are being overly picky there, you can find such extremely minor stuff in all games. Quote
Skjalg Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I find myself agreeing with Zacker Quote
Method Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Hey, I'm an id guy, not Epic. I fight those Epic mofos anytime, fo'gettaboudit. As far as I know they ripped UT idea from Quake 3: Arena. Edit: Just wanted to add that I still respect the work Epic do. -Method Quote
Hourences Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Things as too tilable definitely is too picky, a floating tree and being able to litterally fall out of the map however, isnt really something you want to have in your level:) Quote
GregBoffins Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Yeah method, there could've been certain circumstances, harsh memory limits that can cause noticable tiling, I wouldn't be so picky. Everyone's work has flaws, even your own, so chill out Quote
Rick_D Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Method I think you are being overly picky there, you can find such extremely minor stuff in all games. yeah no shit lol, way to be more anal than all of mapcore put together Quote
-HP- Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 lol, yeah, although the overlap thingie on the stairs is scandalous! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Method I think you are being overly picky there, you can find such extremely minor stuff in all games. that doesn't make it right tho! Quote
Sa74n Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 i agree with method. sure the tiling isnt a big deal but some of the static mesh placement is just so easy to fix. no excuse to be in the game in my opinion (especially since they probably had testers check out the demo before release). i bet its gonna be adressed for the final release though. i kept wondering how i can unlock those super highres textures they had in all those screenshots. even tho i cranked all sliders up to max the textures looked quite blurry (in comparison to the shots) Quote
^Slick Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 This is an incredibly well optimized engine, I can play it on 1280x1024 will decent settings, thats more than the orange box I tell you. That being said, without AA on, it looks much worse then Orange Box without AA on. I also thought that the guns look amazing, but the environment, although not lacking in polys, could deffo have better textures. I'll play again to refresh my memory. Quote
Scinbed Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Guys, the demo only includes half-res textures to keep the filesize down, the textures in the full game will mostly be 2048x2048 beasts. D: Quote
^Slick Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 OH crazy. At the moment the menu lags more then the game does, doesn't make sense to me. Quote
-HP- Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Menu works fine for me, you sure you got the latest drivers? Quote
