DelaZ Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Is it just me or does Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2 look better? I have a pretty decent system (E6600 dualcore/GF 7950 GT/2 GB ram/...) I cranked up the graphics as high as possible and it still looks like shit... I also put everything on high quality etc on the geforce video options. It looks worse then GoW on my 360. :/ Did I miss another video menu or something? It looks decent but nothing like the screenshots they have been releasing. *Edit*: I discussed and asked for some help on irc... Guess this is how it looks. Imo the characters and the world aren't that detailed like they showed us on the screenshots they released before. Also the dof and bloom makes everything look blurry. *Edit²*: Thanks to Sindwiller it looks like this now: Much better already.. but still... and the characters look like shit. Quote
-HP- Posted October 14, 2007 Author Report Posted October 14, 2007 remenber that the actual maximum graphic levels on the demo, will be equivalent to the NORMAL graphic levels on the full game, so... Quote
Skjalg Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 the vehicle ctf wasnt impressive the jackhammer was waaaaaay overpowered Quote
capone_adam Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I think many of the assets in this game are some of the best quality work seen in games yet. They are certainly alot more advanced than what we did with GOW. I've not seen the demo yet but it looks like its been put together in a way that looks rushed, hopefully its just for this beta. Its a shame these assets are going to be overlooked since I reckon most players will be playing this on lower settings and zooming past everything! It really pleases me though that you took the time to take a snapshot of the statue , that alone had so much research, concepting, modeling of seperate parts to come up with multiple variations, awsome modeling, amazing texture work. ...but most people don't even think about that when dashing around zapping their big guns Quote
Skjalg Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 actually, i run this on the highest setting (demo), and the first thing i did was run around the map looking at everything Quote
Algor Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 i've only played the deathmatch so far for a bit (night map for 20 frags, day map for a few minutes) until i realized i just didn't give two shits about the gameplay. the visuals were also very dumbed down by the bloom and lack of contrast in the lighting. i understand that they also didn't include the high res textures as with their previous demos, not a huge deal. the taunts also didn't seem to turn off after disabling them twice, why are the taunts still in the game anyways? does anyone like to hear them? i've read that the demo underrepresented the game... i don't know how much it can do that for a seemingly basic game. maybe i just need to check out hte VTF maps later on. either way i will probably end up buying it for the editor and such. zeon Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 i was disapointed with the gfx's. its way to blurry, and half the time you can see if it a teammate or opponent. but i still have my preorder waiting, so hope it gets better. and damn, had hoped for two things. the gellyfield.. and spiders Quote
jaboo224 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 gameplay was boring for me. TF2 > UT3 Quote
-HP- Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 actually, i run this on the highest setting (demo), and the first thing i did was run around the map looking at everything same here, we're mappers after all, I believe we all do it, evaluate other people's work. Quote

Modelling and textures of the statue are amazing, but the problem is, all this isn't standing out because of the complete lack of lighting contrast. It's a shame really. Quote

I know the tech, and I can seriously, without overstating, create the lighting in that level from scratch in less than 30 minutes, rebuild/compile included. I hope the other levels in the game has better things going. Quote
dux Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Epic in "My mum could do better lighting" shocker. Quote
