capone_adam Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Yay, that asian level is the one my company worked on. I think you can see one of the pillars I textured in the background Yeah its a bit strange, I mean seriously the artwork here is mega incredible. Much more advanced then what was done with gears but argh you just don't notice it with these screenshots! I bet even when playing it they don't look that great as you're running past everything a million mph! Quote

-HP- Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 I second everything Warby said, and yeah, I tryed to remove all this blur filter thing, and one can't do it, at least in the demo! too much Nextgen'ness for my taste, but yrah, looks nice, plays nice. Quote

Hourences Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 More post proc options can be found in the inis. So if you want to dump the bloom and dof.. If you want to rebind the tab key = inis. Imo this is Gears Of War Tournament, weapons aside, this has nothing to do with Unreal anymore. Its as gray, desaturated and techy as GOW where as Unreal meant warmth, mystery and atmosphere. Unreal means colors, spaceships, aztec temples, castles, caves, and so on. Not gray cities and asian buildings. Movement is great, as are the weapons, and both have the classic UT feeling again. However everything else is entirely new so it feels very contradicting. On one hand it tries to be the old game, on the other hand it also tries to be something entirely new. Either its this or that but not both imo. I also agree that lighting is really bad, often non existant apart from a sunlight actor, and almost always very white. Also goes for the post processing but you can turn that off so thats ok. I also think the game has a huge console feeling to it. Im playing a console port! The interface, hud, even the look of the levels with all the PP make me feel as if Im playing a game on the Xbox. Quote
Evert Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Same design as the first UT, which imo is very boring. A lot of rushed content to go with some stuff that looks really nice, making the overall view look untight. Zelda Twilight Princess still looks better with no normal maps. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 It really feels liek a mixed bag. Maybe it's only the levels they supplied with the demo, but i didn't find them very impressive. Some of the art is really great while other parts look like crap. Also everything looks like a big detail, with the same bland coloring and uninteresting lighting. Not getting this one I think, unless there might be some more interesting maps in the full package Quote
Aggressor Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Go to (where XXX is your Windows account name) G:\Documents and Settings\XXX\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3 Demo\UTGame\Config\ open up UTEngine.ini and set DepthOfField and Bloom to False. DOF makes the biggest difference. Also, I have to agree with Hourences (once more ), that level design needs work, especially lighting. I found some aspects that really puzzled me, such as "detail normal maps" or something, which are completely unnecessary, but on the other hand there's not enough specular/reflection effects on textures (especially floor), making the world look too static. I booted up ETQW again just for comparison and my god QW freaking rapes UT3 as far as lighting is concerned. Oh, anyone managed to find the editor yet or something? Quote
hamst3r Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Not even gonna bother downloading since I know my piece of shit computer cant run it, but the screens look great. Quote
