dux Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Cons: -I have no idea what is going on. I played Half-Life 1, and Episode 1. Still, I didn't know where we were going to, what the hell is White Mountain? Who is the new doctor guy who appeared from nowhere? Why are we launching a rocket? The plot seemed very skippy over alot of details. -Hunters are such bullshit to kill. -All somewhat predictable. By that I mean nothing ever comes simple. You get in an elevator, and you know it's going to break or crash. It's easy to predict what outcome will happen. lol if you only played those then it's not valve at fault for not providing all the information. Everything is there to be understood, you've just missed sections of it, or missed people talking which provided answers. Magnus, the doctor fellow was at Black Mesa and was competing with his own team, directly against Kleiner and his team. Remember the microwave you blow up in Half-Life 1? That was his casserole inside that you waxed. White Mountain is the location of the rebel base, lol star wars. It's a Missile Silo where all the eggheads are prepping a rocket to launch and close the combine super portal that the Citadel opened. Seriously man, listen next time. Quote
Wunderboy Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 I love the Kliener dialog about Apature Science and their lack of safety Quote
curman Posted October 10, 2007 Author Report Posted October 10, 2007 I meant from the start, it seemed a bit out of place. I didn't really gather and unite everything until the very end. Then things came together and made sense all together. Quote
dux Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 I'm just annoyed that we've got to wait for up to a year now for Episode 3. I want more man, I need my fix! Quote
Grinwhrl Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 The game is awesome, the entire orange box is awesome, very impressed so far Quote
Furyo Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Entirely impressed. Got up this morning to a great release, and beat both E2 and Portal...Now I'm the type to go after the achievements so yeah I'll replay them, but it's just time to go back to some quality TF2 now Quote
NormySan Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Just completed portals to! Great game, very funny and well made. Though it were a bit easier than i tought it would be Quote
NormySan Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 THE CAKE IS A LIE! What he said! Quote
Zyn Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Did anyone almost shat bricks when the green Antlion Guard came after you in those narrow caves? I was thinking "Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god..." when I ran like hell and could feel it just behind my back. Quote

I was thinking "Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god..." when I ran like hell and could feel it just behind my back. That's really what made me enjoy Episode 2 so much. There was an actual element of gameplay that invoked a certain panic inside of you while playing. I for one was jumping out of seat runnin' down that cave to find the next hideout. It was a great chase sequence. Quote

curman Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 There was one part in that chase, the antlion took the right path, so you took the left path. It was a just a circle basically, I sprinted and I didn't even get half way to the the small cave, and he just bucked my ass like half way across the cave and I died. Quote
curman Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Follow the plot and you'd know. ZING. Also, G-man spotted on the bridge when you first arrive. Only place I saw him, besides the little cut-scene when you're resurrecting Alyx. Quote
