Algor Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 The whole quote from gamedaily is: A Microsoft spokesperson has told us, "There's been no such announcement. We continue to celebrate the tremendous success of the global phenomenon that is Halo 3." The little redirection at the end strengthens the "...............................can we talk about something else cause we don't want to talk about this" undertone. I thought it was, "I'm too busy with mountains of cash, hookers, and blow" :megaman: This would be quite the move though. Quote
Fletch Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 The "no comment" comment leads be to believe there is a stack of papers on a lawyer's desk at Microsoft or Bungie right now, awaiting final sign off on something, but I doubt it's a full on break-up. Maybe a Bungie-owned sister studio that is free to work on other platforms and projects Quote
Meotwister Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 or maybe that article is right and they're waiting for the 6th or whatever so it wont effect their quarterly reports. or they're just waiting for something. Quote
CompoSITe Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 I have heard it is true as well. Quote
Erratic Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 the split confirmed: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/pres ... vesPR.mspx Quote
Mazy Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 <-- Mindblown Bungie must've threatened with totally dismantling the entire studio unless MS accepted this deal, or something. I donno, makes no sense, but then again MS might value having Bungie on their good side so much that they'd allow it (300 mills first week and all). I'd love to know the details Quote
Erratic Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 I just want some Oni 2 resulting from this Quote
FrieChamp Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I didn't see that coming to be honest. I can't recall any studio regaining its independent status after an acquisition. This paragraph puts things into perspective though: Microsoft will retain an equity interest in Bungie, at the same time continuing its long-standing publishing agreement between Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie for the Microsoft-owned “Halo” intellectual property as well as other future properties developed by Bungie. So I guess that means that Bungie will be able to develop what they please from now on, but the question is how feasible this is, when Microsoft retains equity interests, is the publisher for any future games and owner of any future intellectual property (not to speak of the Halo franchise, but I'm sure Bungie is sick of that by now anyway). So who's going to make the Halo games from now on - or do you actually believe Halo 3 was the last one? Quote
JAL Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 So who's going to make the Halo games from now on EA Games Quote
