-HP- Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 The European Commission created a 1.5m€ fund to help European game developers to build their next game prototype. The "MEDIA/Interactive works" program allows developers who have released a commercial title between 1 January 2005 and the date of their application to apply for a financial help that can amount from 10,000€ to 100,000€ depending on the project. This grant don't have to be refund. More information can be found both on the related European Commision website and on the EGDF website. Warby Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 10.000 to a 100.000 euro and a 1.500.000 total so 15-150 projects can get in ? hmmm... 100.000 seams too little to completely finance something worth playing but its the thought that counts Quote
mjens Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 If it is for a little game dev companies this cash can save the whole company... Quote
Thrik Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 It might not be massive, but hell, it's a step towards games getting the same kind of non-publisher funding that movies have enjoyed for ages. With the budgets of games getting so immense it's about time. Quote
Sentura Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 ill say. this hopefully means smaller companies can get bigger in a shorter time. Quote

Zacker Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Despite not being an a lot of money, then it's still a very significant step forward for the games industry in the EU. I just hope that aren't giving this out just to shut up people from the industry. Quote
