Sa74n Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 anyone wanna gift their orange box to me? Quote
JamesL Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I gotta say playing Scout is more fun that I expected! Especially on 2fort! You can quickly get up behind them and smack them with the bat I was doing lots of this last night. I haven't laughed out loud so much playing a multiplayer game for as long as I can remember. Even the purile "Huh huh huh you got pwnd" samples after dishing out bat to head action made me laugh, and I normally hate that leet BS. Great game. Worthy successor. Quote
Thrik Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 A superb game in almost every way. Screenshots and even videos (unless HD) really don't do the graphics justice; there's so much fine detail and cartoony texture to everything that it's just a constant treat for the eyes. The gameplay gives me that feeling I experienced while playing TFC, but different enough to feel like something fresh and that I can spend a lot of time with. What I've seen so far is great, although it's clear that a lot of TFC fans will have to rethink what class they like most and such since a lot has fundamentally changes. Medic as an all-purpose mega-class? More like not anymore. If anyone's bothered (nobody who's got the beta will be interested), I recorded and YouTube'd my first moments of the game. I basically just try out every class, weapon and utility in sequential order, on a live server so there's plenty of gameplay to watch too. Could be interesting if you're stoked for the game but can't play until next month or something, or you want to show someone what it's all about. Quote
dux Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Can I play on someones account? Cool vid btw Thrik. Quote
JAL Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 TF2 so far is extremely awesome. It's such a joy to play. Sextastic. I enjoy the scout class the best. Quote
Taylor Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I didn't say it was hard? Hmm sorry I thought you said it was highly unlikely to get a spy behind a heavy and kill him. No problem. I should aplogise for the dickish tone of my response, I had to go and didn't read it back first Anyhoo! It's probably all fine and I should just learn to kill them and stop complaining. I usually play Engineer but I've definately had the most fun so far as a Solider. Got 8 kills straight assaulting a control point with a Medic buddy, and was making very excited sounds at the PC before I forced myself to stop. Quote
Sentura Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 i play spy mostly, stabbing pretty much everyone. my best round i got 11 kills while doing nearly 2000 damage. it's a bit bad that some of the classes are as slow as they are, but then again, i dont play them... much. Quote

Thrik Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 Badlands?! Oh, hell yes. That was an awesome map. Quote
JohnC Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Thanks for that video Thrik. It looks like it has potential to give me some great moments and I think I can justify shelling out however many bucks for it. If anyone cares to answer, I am curious about some features from other Source mods: 1. Optional friendly fire? 2. Microphone support? 3. As the heavy, does the minigun automatically come down when you fire, or do you have to shoulder it as in Day of Defeat? 4. Do players' names come up when you hover your crosshair on them? More specifically, if I'm a spy in disguise, can someone look at me for a few seconds and see "enemy?" Quote
DelaZ Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 1. Yes 2. Yes 3. It happens automaticly the moment you start shooting. 4. Yes for the first question, no for the second question (they will see the name of a teammember, which you 'stole' ...so basicly there are two guys running around in your team with the same name). Quote
Furyo Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Do you think that's why you sometimes see someone playing with your own name? Happened to me twice yesterday, and it seemed like a a bug, but that would explain it. In that case, the answer to the last question is partially yes too, cause when you realize someone has your own name, something's gotta give... Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 im having a problem that apparently many others are having, when i go to launch the game the "preparing to launch team fortress 2..." dialogue appears but then disappears as if nothing happened. i verified my files, deleted local content and redownloaded, restarted steam, my pc, and downloaded new video drivers. i guess it's something that i cant fix Quote
Thrik Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 Haha, yes the Spy's name stealing is an excellent feature of TFC that remained intact. Although it makes your disguise even more effective, you do need to constantly keep an eye out for anyone on the enemy team who's playing as the class you're disguised as. If they happen to have a good look at you, they'll invariably notice their own name immediately and fill you with lead. Quote
