Quick question for the yanks!

Do you have high street butchers over there? I was trying to find some photos of an America butchers shop but I can't find any. In England butchers are most located in villages or on the outskirts of towns and cities.

Sorry if this is a daft question, reason I'm asking is I'm making store textures and wondered if making one of them a butchers would work, since the setting is the outskirts of an American city.

I've never seen a store that is a dedicated butcher shop. They're always parts of larger grocery stores. At least that is my experience.. maybe out in the midwest theres places like that, but for the most part its all part of a larger grocery store.

Those kind are really located in the outskirts of the bigger cities. I know of one in Yonkers and Boston at least. Although most are inside larger grocery stores now-a-days.

I live in a town of like 50k and 25k of them are uni students so it is pretty small. I think we have about 3 dedicated butcher shops. There are also butcher shops that only open during hunting seasons, they are usually in more rural areas. Every supermarket has a butcher as well.

But I will agree with the above post, they are predominantly in supermarkets, seems like the small mom and pop butcher establishments are going on the wayside.

Where I live (the Midwest between Chicago and Milwaukee), at least the cities, all the dedicated butchers operate out of larger grocery stores.

i live in the suburbs and i can think of definitely one butcher shop in my town. i think there are another one or two around here.
